During the weekend I got think about how I found RB. I've got a longer chain of things that needed to happen until I found it, but other may have longer chains and maybe would like to share them. So this is how I found RB:
- Started a degree course at a local university
- Deceided to quit my degree course at my university and started a program at a game design school
- Befriended a teacher at my game design school
- This teacher recommended the GIA to me.
- Read this GIA article about FF5FJF.
- Started playing Final Fantasy 5 Four Job Fiesta in 2014.
- Someone in their reddit channel recommended Sulla's FF5 Solo reports. Read them
- Noticed and read Sulla's other game reports like for Civ
- Later read his MP reports
- Found RB and created an account

I stumbled across Sullla's civ 5 reports way back when Gods and Kings was still the latest expansion. After that I lurked here until I finally made an account to join a civ 6 pbem (I knew I was no match for this community in civ 4 and I stopped caring about civ 5 pretty quickly).

First time I came here to download unofficial patches for Master of {Orion,Magic}. I probably found the links on the GOG forums. I may have made some bug report on MoM, but didn't stick around. As for the second time, I found a link to sullla's homepage on some blog, and from there, a link to the then-ongoing Civ 6 PBEM1.
(Fun fact: I didn't actually get the MOO patch working until I played my first SG here.)

Found this place via a link in someone's signature at Civfanatics way back when. I played in Civ IV Adventures 8, 9, 10 and 12 (under the handle notoptimal...account password lost to the sands of time, along with the report files), then moved and didn't play in anything until the Civ 6 PBEMs.

1. College roommate played Diablo 1
2. I did too
3. alt.games.diablo on Usenet, which was the place for game talk before most web forums existed
4. Found Lurker Lounge from there
5. Found Realms Beyond Diablo from there
6. Was around when Sirian became disenchanted with Diablo 2's PVP and network and loot systems and rebooted RB into Civilization 3 instead
I suppose the story could start with everything that brought me to that college and that roommate, although anything that led to Diablo 1 could have led to the same sequence thereafter.

I found my way to RB via Sullla's page in the Civ IV days, I think from finding a link to his Civ IV walk through report somewhere. Don't recall just where at this point. Participated in some of the Civ IV Adventures (I think Mansa Moneybags was my first one), and later got into some SGs for various games (particularly X-COM) with other RB folks.

I was playing Civ3, looking at Civfanatics for inspiration on how to do better, and then these (RB) succession games started popping up, with players an order of magnitude better than the average CFC SG. They could win even with crazy restrictions on themselves, restrictions that...actually sounded pretty fun.
At one point I got into one of Sirian's Training SGs, but then college got busy and I had to flake.
I lurked for a few years after that.
