request for forests on otherwise unusable mountain, out of the way ocean, etc. to reduce likelihood of annoying pollution later in the game. That mechanic sucks.

Imo, Circum- Mapmaker preference.
Forests on everything to make global warming not a thing- yes.

Also, not sure if we have a consensus.. but id like to ask that fish/fish copper/copper style deals be allowed. But otherwise no other trade window shenanigans.

Contacted Mardoc about being the mapmaker.. anything specific for the map?

2) No more than 12 man-hours should be spent on creating the map (preferably less).
3) Natural looking, cylindrical, random map, very roughly balanced

If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.

I write RPG adventures, and blog about it, check it out.

Suggestion for discussion: if people don't want to deal with constant war dec/peace offers for NAPs, you could consider house rule of minimum 10 turns after war dec before peace can be offered.

Are you Rusten still looking for a teammate? I still do not have time for taking over the whole civ but would like to participate as a team member.

Yup. You are welcome to join.

I wouldn't mind 10 turns before being allowed to get an enforceable peace. This would keep things interesting. Or just remove the mechanic altogether so that peace treaties are as easily broken as cease fires.backstab

To be clear, I'm currently waffling about this, mostly because I don't really understand what y'all are looking for.  Not sure that there is consensus.  If you can turn the vague requests into something actionable, there's a better chance.

Any script preference or vetos?  One continent or a couple or many?

Where do you prefer I spend my balancing time?  Strategics?  other resources?  land quality, capitals?

Are you fine with the idea that someone will have basically lost on T0, just looking for a fun journey?  Or would that suck the joy out?

Which mod? Do I tell you map dimensions and size or force you to explore to find out?

Need a vote on this one, I've also see people in the thread asking for extra room.

Thanks for even considering it! (Map makers are the best kind of people.)

"Not archipelagic" is my vote.

I solemnly swear to have zero complaints about any kind of map imbalance. Presence or lack of strategics is probably the most variety-inducing map feature, so that would be my suggestion. Capital+first few cities' quality will already be affected by micro, so balancing for that with limited mapmaker time seems like it would have the smallest returns.

RtR 2.0.8.3. My vote is for knowing map dimensions.

So far it looks like Commodore  is for small map; Gavagai and superdeath for bigger. I'm for bigger, too. I suspect that imbalances will be more felt on a smaller map, whereas on a bigger, we can direct our settling in different directions.
There is no way to peace. Peace is the way.

One seems the simplest option, with some islands available (pre and/or post-astro)

Strategics and the capitals. Identical starts seems like a quick and easy way to achieve some balance.

I'd also prefer a map on the larger side, for the reasons naufragar outlined.
