Oops? I assumed I was supposed to set my own individual password...
I can replay, and not change the password later tonight, I'm not at my Civ computer.

I have no idea, honestly. I'd hate to open the save and see your civ. Veteran PBEMers, please advise.

It's the right save; you won't see my civ ("to-Speaker" is in the name, and since Speaker must have started the game as you, that's what he did).

OK. Actually, now that I think about it, what do I do on my end? Play my turn, hit "End turn" and somehow save it? It didn't really occur to me until now. I'll try looking it up, but if anyone has a quick answer, that would be appreciated.

When you hit "End turn", the game saves as "GameName - 4000BC - To Whoever's Next", and then you send that to whoever's next.
So, if you can't just click OK and start, then that's a mistake on my end (why does the game have an overall password, but each individual civ does not???).
(and, frankly, these games need a "How to PBEM" help file...), and, again, I'll correct it tonight when I'm at my Civ computer.

I agree. When I tried searching for information, all I found was a thread blasting Firaxis for dropping the ball on PBEM support options.
Anyway, I'm in no huge rush, so I'll keep an eye on my inbox. Sunrise said he'd play late, anyway.

I apologize for the delay, but I've sent the correct save off to Whosit, without messing with the password (I'll say it again...that's really silly. Why can't I set a password for my personal civ???)

Well, the good news is that you can set a password for your personal civ. The bad news is that the save is wrong. You sent me your save. When I was loading it up, it said "Welcome, Cyneheard." Worried, I went to the other side of the room while it loaded up. As soon as I saw bright yellow borders (I swear I didn't look at anything else!), I closed my eyes and killed the program.
Since I don't know anything about PBEM, not sure what happened, but what you've sent me both times seems to be the save for you. Maybe you can try again and send it to a neutral third party to make sure that it's correct before sending it back to me?
I'm afraid this means I won't be able to get to it until tomorrow night, but hopefully once this gets worked out, we can get back on schedule.

So, I got Ilios to look at it. By loading the save, he looks at Egypt, after my turn was played. I don't know what happened. It says "to Speaker" in the title, so I sent it to the next person in line...
Maybe something got screwed up when we tried to change the player order??? That was done manually.
In that case, I think we need to get Speaker to recreate the save-file with this player order:
Krill
Darrelljs
Cyneheard
Whosit

Amazing how hard it is to start this game...
In case a neutral party has to alter/create the game again, would it be possible without too much hassle to send a screenshot of the starting positions to us players in later slots? Only if this can be done easily. Then at least we could think about where to settle and how to approach the opening game already, which in my case would considerably speed up my first turn...
