So basically it's a PBEM? Asynchronous would means playing out of order like in a PB.

Just picked up the game yesterday, would be interested in another PBEM. I've only played for a few hours, but it's like 95% identical to the AW series, as best I can tell.
Is it just me or is the scoring system for the campaign very annoying? I finished a mission with 14 kills and 0 losses, yet only got 1 of 3 stars and a "c" rating. Apparently the only thing that's important is the number of turns it took to finish the mission?
I can't say I am impressed by that decision. https://www.reddit.com/r/wargroove/comme...this_game/
Ah, that explains a lot. Kind of annoying, there's a bit of a luck element involved in some missions where you can end them more quickly if the AI gets overly aggressive with its CO, but often they'll hang out in the back and you'll have to plow through waves of defense to get to them.
Not that the Advance Wars system was much better, which penalized players for crossing some mysterious threshold of "too many units built". I don't like that it's entirely speed though--IIRC the only AW mode to do that was the original's Advance Campaign, which was basically a puzzle mode since there is only one way to solve the maps in most cases (except that you couldn't see all the moves, since 75% of the maps were FOW).
I also just got this game, and if anyone else is interested in having a game going, I'd be up for that.
I Think I'm Gwangju Like It Here
A blog about my adventures in Korea, and whatever else I feel like writing about.
I'm lurking with interest, but still waiting for the GOG release (and hoping that it doesn't have crippled multiplayer).
im up for more of these, if someone wants to set it up.
"Superdeath seems to have acquired a rep for aggression somehow. In this game that's going to help us because he's going to go to the negotiating table with twitchy eyes and slightly too wide a grin and terrify the neighbors into favorable border agreements, one-sided tech deals and staggered NAPs."
