Civs in RtR: Thread 2

Id be down to try a math rush, for earlier elephants... I mean, for the obvious benefit of Baray's!
"Superdeath seems to have acquired a rep for aggression somehow. They still need construction and HBR. Math elephants would be uncounterable.

So how balanced is it when you only have to find 24 hammers in your forge/HE city to build your next Baray (by way of ballistaphant), and it saves you growth time from size 1?

Or is that a false assumption? Maybe the civ needs a certain amount of military anyway, and if you're stealing military production to make Barays you have to replace the military power with additional units from your least efficient military city?

You need 27hpt to one turn WE with a forge/HE, and you need a lot of tech.

Oh, I didn't see the Can Build Baray part on the Ballistaphant.... That may be a bit too much. Wouldn't a power 8 resourceless elephant be enough witih how the Baray is?

I would prefer just str 8 ele with that kind of Baray. And it would feel weird to spam elephants from HE city to get barays up in astro cities.

Base WE and Ballistaphant are strength 7, aren't they?

Let's shelve the Khmer for a moment and come back to them in a bit, after WE have been dealt with.

Move onto the Ottomans:

Quote:Ottomans: Wheel/Agriculture. UB: Aqueduct replacement: Hammam. +2 happy, cost 80. UU: Musket replacement. Janissary. +25% against mounted, archery, melee units.

I see no reason to change Ottomans from this. It's a slight hammer decrease on the UB compared to the base BtS version: EXP gets a 2 happy, 20 hammer/happy building at Maths and a UU that cleans up all the junk and knights. It's legit IMO. Not the most interesting of civs, but it's definitely pickable. Ottomans are one of the staple civs from the larger snake picks.
