[LURKERS] Civ 6 PBEM 15: May the Odds be Ever In Your Favor

I'm wondering because Nan Madol is off the banned list if you look at the first post, however the only reason why that happened is because of a lack of mapmaker. So I don't know what you would do.

What's with the 13-post in your thread?

Ok, 1 island edited. 1-2 mountains are out. Only strategic ressources were added, where necessary. The Ottomans start next to amenity NW, nothing major. CS are all in locations which should not annoy people.

Attached is the worldbuilder map. Everything is done.

Should I send the map to the persian player, or should I startup a save. It worked nicely in SP, with Hotseat I had issues getting the correct start.

Am I right that nobody has a four foodhammer tile in their default first ring? These are going to be some slow starts.

The starts all look fairly balanced in quality, although the Ottoman start is obviously a lot weirder than the others (natural wonder, better campus spot, lots of crappy water tiles). Moving that start northeast into the middle of that landmass would be ideal, but I don't know if the current world builder lets you do that easily.

I agree with Williams.  I might put the ottomans right in the middle of that gap in the mountains. Of course then the issue is I think they will have a lock on all that land to the NE.  Might be good to put in a more direct water path and get rid of some of that land? Also gives Pin a chance to engaged in /be vulnerable to late game naval combat.

Unrelated to the map but a different font for text would help.  It took me a while to find where the Inca actually start.

3W of the solitary desert mountain? That seems like a good spot. No 4 yield tiles in the first ring (like the others) but they can burn a turn to reach the bananas if so inclined. If they are placed there, probably best to make sure that Banana is flat, not a hill. Allowing a possible five yield tile would be a little much.

I don't think removing land from the Ottomans is necessary, but maybe Persia could use an additional water source somewhere to their north. I don't see any reasonable freshwater spots for the second city, something everyone else has.

With all that said, I don't know how much extra balancing is intended for this game. If tribal villages and max disasters are still on, the effects of those could both matter a lot more in the end than these little tweaks.

I call the game for Woden. Jester is toast because of middle start and being worse than the other players and Woden will be better off because the remaining two players will be very close to eachother which will lead to them fighting. Persia might actually get their sneak attack ability off too.

Will adapt the Ottomans a bit. I am quite confident that it can not be called. My last map I expected Rome or England to win. Shows what I know.

Map not final? If you ignore Jester being weak Otto still needs a buff for being stuck in the middle. Diplo does this by giving Germany+Austria more SCs and RB won it's demo game when it had an Edge and lost when it was in the Center. Edge>Center. Buff Otto and if you are feeling mischievous give Jester Shambhala to make him have a small chance of victory (I wouldn't).

An edge start is better than a center start, otherwise I have no idea what you are saying.

In the board game diplomacy Germany and Austria start in the center and are given more stuff (SCs) to compensate.

RB played in two Inter-site democracy games. One where it had an edge start and won and one were it had a center start and lost (everyone had a center start but it still counts).
