[SPOILERS] naufragar and Rusten get nickel-and-dimed

I expect a lot of charismatic paired with an early trait. I think it would be my 1st choice if we didn't go for the Japanese gambit. Tons of food but no happy in starting BFC and we're on a script-generated map. Big advantage for navy later too. Alex makes the most sense for what we're trying to do, but if we don't get him then I can see CHM+PHI as a possibility too. We're locked into PHI though, so we don't get a trait for the starting turns. It would be slow compared to our other backups (Peter, Suleiman).

Did you double check that the Japanese UB and UU work as intended in the most recent version?

I have. thumbsup

I actually had to look up who Cha/Phi is. lol Guess I don't play that combo often. If we don't get Japan (heaven forbid), I think Germany is a little awkward for this start. (But I haven't simmed.) Hopefully we don't need to think about second options, but what about Genghis Khan/America? (I think Germany's better; I just suspect our start is a little rough with them.)

Good! thumbsup

We can use the same start with Germany, I don't see the problem. Remember; we can build the work boat without fishing (or did this change without me noticing it in the log?). Only difference is we tech fishing instead of mining.

Oh, of course. I was trying to go Agri-BW in my head. Unnecessary. Krill, I take it all back. I now get why you changedd the work boat requirements.

Happy Alex of Japan day! We did it! party

Turns out Bismarck was never an option anyway. Expecting Oracle from those guys, so us being able to skip the myst line entirely to start with is good. When's the last time Alex featured in a RB pitboss? Must be a while, but I'm sure Krill knows. *poke*

lol I've got an opponent analysis post written up. Just waiting to fill in MSCC's blank. I really like Viking/Bismark in this field. Nobody's a lock on religion, so they could get religion, Oracle, and Colossus, and then start pumping out forges!

I hope we've caused lots of beffudlement in other players' threads. wink

Thanks! About as unpopular as I thought. Stronger leader in RtR compared to vanilla which explains part of it.

Pitboss: Only picked 3 times, and those were 18-34 player games. Also picked once by Elkad, but the game was abandoned after 5 turns and he chose something else on remake.
PBEM: 3 times in 70+ games.

Actually only picked once, the rest were random in the PB games.

shifty

I'm glad naufragar mentioned Alex first, or I'd feel guilty about dragging him down this rabbit hole.
