Good idea Cynehard...I recruited regoarrarr to be a dedicated lurker/sub when I'm on vacation.
Does anyone have a VNC type application they recommend for Android?

We'll have to take some action soon if Cull doesn't come back. Leaving unnannounced for a longer time isn't usually a good sign. Would you Twinkle, or someone else, be ready to take Cull's place if it comes down to that?

T-hawk has joined my team as a (as he calls it) "virtual" member. He offered to play my turns when I'm away, but since he also offered to discuss game decisions he's more than a simple substitute (he's completely unspoiled, of course!). Just thought you should know who you are up against so you won't be surprised when you read my spoiler thread after the game.

So this will be a true test of SP versus MP players, eh?

Yeah, that's pretty much what I'm going for in casting my lot in with Kylearan. I'm more than just a lurker but less than a full teammate peer as in the Pitboss games. I haven't taken the save directly at all, and Kylearan is doing all the turnplaying.

Most of the stuff us dedicated MP guys train for and optimize our games over involved city elimination, clock management, and turn management. AW is certainly a setting we use, but MP ladder games without AW would still be a very different ballgame since loosing two cities knocks someone out of the game and if the game ends after 120t.
I think the apolyton demogame showed perfectly well that against humans or the AI proper city, tile, and economic management is still the most important determinant of civ success. I tried to help when I could with tactical advice, but the C&D info, city optimizations, worker moves (which even when I was turnplaying were delegated to soooo or Sullla), etc were all good old fashioned SP type skills. The reason a guy like T-Hawk can't sign up and immediately dominate the MP ladder is that the clock rules we play with prevent calculating numbers of every tile every turn. When you've only got 30 seconds to play a turn, and you have to watch enemy moves, and moving at 8 and 0 seconds left is crucial your attention is split many different ways.
In this game, I expect good empire management will still be the key to victory, and skill at tactics will only help on the margin.

Greens game
Cull has now missed three whole cycles. His last post on the forums is from 5 days ago. I think we have to start looking for a replacement now. Problem is that we don't know his password, so we can't just continue from here. Lucky for us that we're still in the first few turns. I think we should look for a replacement (Twinkle, you sure you can handle 4 games?) and then restart the game. Then play the first turns exactly identical to what we already did (so nobody gains advantage from the restart). And since we're restarting, I wouldn't mind switching to Pitboss format if we can find a host (sunrise?). Maybe it's just Cull who slowed us down, but I still think we might be better with pitboss so we don't have to worry about timeslots as much. Opinions?

Google disabled my gmail account. It says that I can re-activate it immediatly if I give them my phone-number, which is exactly why I originally let Cyne register the account for me. Looks like they caught me. Last time this happened with RPB2, I ended up switching to wippies.com, but the gmail account did eventually re-activate itself.
