I'll be up for an ancient or classical FFA. Or we could do a Krill vs RB teamer I suppose.
I don't have the time, patience or willingness to piss people off for full diplo, but how about if you're allowed to do anything you like with unit names? With the caveat that you can only rename units once a turn to stop it being a total time sink.
I've played three of my last four games on random maps so something balanced would be nice.
Completed: RB Demogame - Gillette, PBEM46, Pitboss 13, Pitboss 18, Pitboss 30, Pitboss 31, Pitboss 38, Pitboss 42, Pitboss 46, Pitboss 52 (Pindicator's game), Pitboss 57

I don't have a dog in this fight, since I'm at my 1-game limit, but why split the difference? I've heard Superdeath suggesting diplo for a long time (since back before PB38?) and over the months a few people, including Mr. Cairo, Charriu, and now GeneralKilCavalry, have been amenable. (I might be misremembering the exact roster.) How many games can the RB civ4 player base support? Because if a game were advertised as full-diplo, there might be enough for a Pitboss or PBEM given a long enough sign-up period. Why not try to run two games (not necessarily at the same time) one "normal" and one full-diplo, rather than compromise which doesn't sound like it'd be exactly what either party wants?

Nothing stops anyone setting up a pb game, and playing it by whatever rules they want (other than Zanth or Ramk refusing to host the game.
You just can't make people play a game they don't want to though.

I don't want anyone to think that I'm going to stop them playing the game they want.
Looking at this thread I think I will try to set up a test game, ancient FFA, but that will need to be on at least a semi random map for a test game. If people don't want to play that, then fair enough.

Is the linked change log more or less vs. the mod used in PB37?

Unfortunately not a sign-up yet as I try to resist the temptation of a new game. Most likely I'll end up lazily following OH's & Hitru's spam.

Im all in favor of both games going ahead. One can be played with full/close to full diplo with possibly a balanced or not balanced map, and a normal RB rules game with either a crafted map or not. Ill join either/both.

Ancient or classical era FFA games are essentially identical, so, if those games are what players want to play here is the next question: what style map do people want?

I'll probably play anything that's thrown at me, but I really dislike unnatural and blobby pangeas. I'll always be willing to sacrifice some balance for a more interesting map, but I know that's not an opinion shared by everyone.
To give an example, maps a la PB43 don't appeal to me at all. I find them boring and artificial. Too structured and deliberate.
