RBP2 Lurker Discussion Thread - No Players!

Sir Bruce Wrote:IMO, the players have shown time and again through their actions alone that if it's not explicitly against the rules, it's fair game. And when a team complains, it's not that a move is cheesy per se, but that the cheesy move hurt them. I do not believe Spullla would be complaining if Rome had smashed Korea in the current war and Korea gifted India a city or two. Instead, they'd be saying how it's a little cheesy, but those are the rules that apply to everyone and it just worked out nicely for them!

Indeed. Sullla is often on the high horse if an action hurts him but plays it little if it benefits him. Just compare his whining about the dogpile against him and the complaints that nobody wanted to dogpile PAL.

Considering the gifting:
Jowy, Athlete, Whosit and Nakor formed an alliance very early so in a way I few the gifting of cities as part of this alliance. I do understand the dislike to continue a (probably) lost game but had Korea acted like that Whosit would have a much easier time.
So in a way I do understand it, it is within the rules but it is also (very) poor sportmanship.

Adding to the city gifting discussion, it's not like myself and Whosit just gave up out of the blue and gifted our whole empire to someone else. We both fought almost to the end, to the point that we knew we didn't stand a chance. Obviously I can't speak for Whosit, but that's how I see it. If I wanted, I could have gifted my whole empire to Athlete much earlier and he'd have time to put up garrisons etc. But instead of that, I kept playing to win, up until there was no chance for me to survive.

I think we just have different opinions on when you're out of it. I know that I would see it as a cheap move if I didn't gift those two cities to my closest ally in the game. But TBH, in the end of the day, whether you fight till the last turn or third last turn, is not really as big of a deal as people here make it seem. I wasn't Sparta, and real human lives, including all the soldier's families, were not at stake. It's just a game.

Quote:I also checked how big productions are under construction and it seems India is about to finish a Wonder that costs about ~500 hammers. UoS seems more probable than Pyramids so I guess we're still in decent position to get it.
How does he check that?
