PBEM4 - Email and Technical Issues

Jowy Wrote:Google disabled my gmail account. It says that I can re-activate it immediatly if I give them my phone-number, which is exactly why I originally let Cyne register the account for me. Looks like they caught me. Last time this happened with RPB2, I ended up switching to wippies.com, but the gmail account did eventually re-activate itself.

That's so strange. I've never had this issue with gmail huh

As for Cull, i'm ok if something in real life comes up and they miss a turn or two. I can understand that. However, it's not hard to spend 30 seconds throwing a message up on here explaining the situation. Not doing so is just disrespectful in my eyes.

There were multiple greens (wrapper's name rings a bell?) that were after a spot in this game so a replacement will be easy to find.

As for pitboss vs pbem, it doesn't effect me either way. As long as people get the turns done promptly it's all good.

I haven't had the issue with Gmail either, very odd.

I sent a PM to Cull 2 days ago and have not yet got a response. Something must be up.

I'll be replacement if you want, don't mind whether PBEM or PitBoss. If someone else wants to play, I can either help them out or if not, be game admin if you go to a pitboss format

It might have something to do with someone else than me registering it. Yaz registered our RPB2 address and Cyne my RBPBEM4 address. The one I use for other stuff, that I registered myself, hasn't been disabled.

I'm first in line and totally unspoiled, but I'm east coast USA and can only play evenings after 7 PM EDT. No idea how that fits in, will cede to someone else if that timing is no good....

Hi,

I think you underestimate the importance of all the things you've learned and exercised in MP play that we SP players did not - denser city placement, the importance of chopping, building more units, building more 2-movers, priorizing certain military techs etc. Having lurked in some of the MP games here, I saw a lot of things done by MP guys like Speaker or you that I wouldn't have considered doing in that context simply because I'm used to facing AIs, and these things didn't involve short clock timers or city elimination rules.

And in the end, tactical skill (against humans) *will* be needed, and not only on the margin - somehow I doubt this game will be won via space race. lol So even if your premise holds that SP players hone their micromanagement skills more than MP players do, I don't think the difference will be so big that MP players won't be able to compensate for that with their tactical skills.

We'll see, though - looking forward to meet your spearmen with our tanks on the battlefield! tongue hammer

Well it's been about 3.5 cycles Cull has had the save for now. I could handle someone missing 1, maybe 2 cycles without blinking but it does seem a bit strange to miss this many without some justification. I understand things pop up and maybe we could just take a break (although we're a total of 3 turns in...) if someone was having difficulties, but I agree with Kyan in that it would only take very little to notify the other players of your situation, and not simply doing so is a bit unfair on the rest. I'm not really sure where we should draw the line in terms of replacing Cull if it comes down to that. My guess is it won't be too much longer.

If it does come down to that, we can simply start over since we're not far in at all. All my movement and decisions have been documented in my thread so I can guarantee replication of my turns. I'm still content using PBEM since it allows me to play my turn and quickly pass it on, but this also gives me the option of going back to a save if I need to check anything. No problems with double moves or the like too. Lastly I think Wrapper might be the best replacement since Twinkletoes is involved in a few games already.

Can we change the password to Culls civ with the Admin password?

Huge sorry to all playing...

I was really sick over the weekend, and I was in no condition to play civ at all. In fact, I barely used the computer.

Sorry for the delay.

Turn playing now.

To avoid repetition of this situation, I have joined Cull in an advisor/sub role.

Kyan now has his dearly prized chance to try and kill me (and Cull), but it will not be easy my friend!
