...and I've got circumnavigation from this. +1 movement bonus to ships just for having a peak in the right spot. I worked really hard building the mountain. smile Krill, you fucked up so hard with this map, admit it smile I mean, it's all smiles for me, sure, but Alhazard just got his game randomly ruined.

(To clarify: if it was A HILL, not a peak, Alhazard would be able to put a warrior on it when he was wandering around these places much earlier and get circumnavigation well before me.)

I thought the north-south wrap is a standard behaviour of a 'tilted axis' map. But I haven't played one of those in ages.

I have not played titled axis maps ever.

The map is cylindrical, just in north south rather than east west. Tilted axis.

I think someone should have mentioned this implication of Tilted axis explicitly. I mean, for me it turned out quite well, I believe my chances of victory have jumped up now as Alhazard is easily within my reach. On the other hand, I am wondering if 'hazard knew. I suspect if he did, his techpath would be different. It is now a Liberalism to Astro race and he is wasting time on techs like Feudalism and Guilds.

He got the info in the setup thread. Krill even suggested that you guys should try out a few maps so I don't think anything needs to be said to Alhazard. If he didn't and doesn't spot you going for Astro it's not you or Krill's fault.

I'm just going to accept that you've never played Tilted Axis, as you say. Easy to not understand the implications, but I'm not accepting the responsibility for you understanding the implications.

Also, this is just PB6 all over again.

You have made a weird gimmicky map for people who clearly wanted to play something very normal and you did not even explain clearly what you did, opting for subtle hints instead. I think you should accept a bit of responsibility. smile It is hard for me to be angry here because it turned out to be a huge boon for me (though if I now win it would not be particularly satisfying as I got help from a bullshit random factor and mapmaker who have gone rogue). But Alhazard, I think, would have all the right to be outraged.

That is being too harsh. The tech thread for the pitboss is Alhazard's, presumably he should be updated most of all, nor do you know whether or not he knows about the map type. Your unexpected discovery has no bearing on his knowledge. On my part, I knew what the map was like the whole time. Also, on researching Calendar, you can scroll around the map, can you not?
