CLIFF was the last word - and BELT the assassin. Sometimes it`s good to be outvoted. lol

I`m happy to keep on playing in the holidays (at a leisurely pace) but if someone wants a Christmas break that`s perfectly understandable.

Yeah, sometimes it's like that. lol

I'm fine to keep playing throughout the holidays, although it's perfectly understandable if we slow or stop over the next few days. I think Azoth and pjabrony are spymasters for round 2, so if both of them are happy with it we could get pindicator to send the next round so they can start brainstorming. But there's no rush either way.

Well done, Red Team.

I have to agree! VACUUM was on my radar, but I thought both Spin and Alive were pointing away from WASHINGTON. (The story goes that Washington "never told a lie". Wasn't really thinking about DC!)

EDIT: On the other hand, I thought TRUNK was the last Cylindrical clue from the very beginning. Didn't want to even mention it as an option for Alive, in case the discussion tipped off the Red Team.

I am happy to keep playing over the holidays, or take a break until January 2nd.

Congrats red team.

I was baffled by the board at first, stared at it for an hour (admittedly fairly hungover) without getting more than a 2...

I went with Trepan 2 first because it left plenty of words for red to trip over (hooray for stick!). I was worried until SD got you on the right track and Dave and azoth nailed it.

I thought Spin 3 was a great clue until you started discussing moon and limousine, perhaps you guys don't associate Washington with spin as much as I do. Revolution 3 would have been better in hindsight. Fortunately limo was grey so didn't hurt too bad.

Once red knocked a few more words off the board I realised alive 3 was an option and was hugely grateful for Azoth's argument for mint over game. Then the rest of the team overruled him.   banghead

At this point I still thought we had a good chance because there's no possible way WK could clue trunk, cliff and deck. Right? I'm still not sure how reds got cliff. But I think it was about listening to each other's opinions critically and analysing the clues forensically. Hopefully we can do that next turn.

Oh, and if anyone can suggest how I could have got the blue words in three I'm all ears...

I'll be happy to play on or take a break over Christmas.

Yeah, i would never have guessed Washington for spin. Even if it had been Washington DC.

For more than a 2, id have gone with Suck 3. Vacuum, Hole, Washington.

Or Lived 3. Washington, Eagle, Pirate.

Worshipped 3. Temple, Eagle, Washington.

Teeth 3? Eagle, Washington, Pirate.

Mouth 3/4 maybe? Mint (gum), Hole, Washington, Eagle.

But i also never win at games like this or Cards against humanity.

I think the pieces for a win in three were there with the clues you had, it was down to the order and a bit of luck. For example:

Revolution 3: WASHINGTON, misfire on MOON (would have guessed ROULETTE next)
(Blue team supplies STICK.)
Living 3: EAGLE, misfire on GAME (would have guessed MINT next)
Trepan unlimited: HOLE, TEMPLE, return for ROULETTE, MINT, finish with PIRATE, VACUUM

That's very precarious, but also a worst case scenario; there's a decent chance ROULETTE and MINT are guessed earlier. The important thing is to hold a very specific clue like Trepan for later in the round. If we understand it, we know immediately what words are intended, and can use the +1 or unlimited to catch up.

Let`s see how to solve blue`s board. This is my try:

Happiness 3 should pick up TEMPLE, MINT and WASHINGTON (hey, he`s charismatic and this is mostly a civ 4 site anyway!)
Treasury 4: PIRATE is obvious. ROULETTE, DIGGING and STICK could with any luck be guessed. It`s still a somewhat risky clue.
Aerial 2 for EAGLE and VACUUM.

While brainstorming for Red, I thought Gold 4 might be a good clue for you for PIRATE/ROULETTE/TEMPLE/MINT. Then with the STICK gift you'd just have to make 2 pairs which should be easy enough (America & Empty?). Didn't look too closely at potential misfires for Gold though...

Granted, if you lead with a 4 and nailed it I would have thought twice about giving you STICK. Not sure how to end it in 3 without that gift, but without Cylindrical for Red you might have had a 4th turn regardless as it would be very difficult for Red to finish in 3 otherwise.
