What immediately comes to mind is some military words, but since the clue is Kevlar and not Marine I'm pretty sure TRUNK has to be one of them. As Kevlar is a form of Armor could it be useful in a FALL? I guess it could protect ORGANs as well. I'd probably go:
TRUNK
ORGAN
FALL
(gap)
DRILL, HELICOPTER, GAS, PARACHUTE...
Let's see what everyone else has got...
The team seems to be debating PARACHUTE a bit. Personally I don't see Kevlar as being that strongly connected to Kevlar, I can only see it as a second tier connection about the same as Helicopter.
I don't like HOLE. If anything HOLE is the opposite of Kevlar.
I'm going to strongly advocate ORGAN and TRUNK for this clue. My last word may be HELICOPTER, as with TRUNK/ORGAN we could still get something like Chestplate. But Kevlar seems to indicate somewhat recent Military words, which I think is HELICOPTER (or PARACHUTE I guess  ).
Point to ORGAN
Do we want to go for TRUNK or PIN next?

Another reason I think of PARACHUTE is that even if the thing itself isn't make of Kevlar, the pack it's put in could be. A paratrooper would want to keep their chute safe before it deploys.
In any case, I say we go for PIN next, since it's the safest word we have, and since we lost our turn on the first word last round, we need to get as many as possible each round going forward.

We have two more potential guesses. I think that GAS (for cheap) is the strongest of the words we have left, and then either HELICOPTER or PARACHUTE with an eye toward the other one as next round's +1. But I'm open to being convinced otherwise.

I don't like GAS for cheap, especially since AIR was grey and only 1 person mentioned Gas last round. I would prefer NOVEL or LEMON.
I think TRUNK is stronger than HELICOPTER/PARACHUTE for Kevlar. Although it may be difficult to clue ORGAN without also implying TRUNK, nonetheless Kevlar is clearly worn around the Trunk.
I would go NOVEL -> TRUNK

I agree TRUNK for the next Kevlar guess. I don't have any particular opinion around LEMON/NOVEL. So yeah, I'm OK with NOVEL->TRUNK.
