I think he was saying that he didn't really feel like playing clock games to get the wonder though he could have or something which is like his way of griping about situations some times :-p

Yes, however i think it is more to do with being quite annoyed that they lost out by 1 - 2 turns on a desired wonder. and guessing by what i have read in sulllas other games he does generaly take losing by that margin quite hard.

Anyone else think the AP is not the most efficient use of the GE for Spulla at this point? Considering the AP has been available for a while, wouldn't it be a pretty safe assumption (even from their limited perspective compared to ours) that no one else is going for the AP and it would be safe to straight build it? Seeing as they have no assurance of getting another GE, I would think it would be better saved for a corp or say the statue of liberty (which they will be only 1 tech from anyway and would be a great wonder for their empire) than the relatively cheap AP.

You know, I'm going to look at it from another point of view and say it isn't.
I mean, yeah, my first thought was "what have you been doing half the game but taking every little advantage you can out of the rules!?!?!" But then I read it again and it doesn't seem like he's saying, "We're not going to do this because we're better than that." I read it as Sullla shrugging his shoulders, not dwelling on it, and moving on with the game.
And considering all the other little stuff he has taken personally, if that is really what he means then I applaud him for it.
On a side note -- I love how half the lurker comments have turned into psychoanalyzing Sullla. It's become a game within a game within a game.

I took Sullla's little hissy fit as an indicator that Nakor and DMOC, with some good empire management, are getting themselves back into this game. The SP play at this point is to beeline Rifling, and DMOC is considering this. If they can pick up some more territory and get themselves some momentum, they might just be able to put up a fight against Spullla.
The other note is that with the eastern war completely ravaging all parties, particularly slaze, the only two possible winners now are Nakor/DMOC and Spullla. I think Sullla in particular is starting to realize this.

HRE need to grab rifles and take out Mali. Going for economics will see them delaying their attack and in the meantime Sullla and Speakers tech rate will be steadily increasing, HRE can only barely keep up in a golden age and out of it they'll just be falling behind. They desperately need some more land and this looks like the best opportunity to get it. Possibly Korea would be a better target since India would find it harder to intervene, but they have a better military than Mali.
Basically they need to leverage this tech lead into some into some major in game advantage quickly because they won't have it for long. Economics would just be a delaying factor.

I wouldn't write off Broker/Plako either - they're back in the game from a dead civ point - and now have some nice Roman cities under their control... they're not even *that* far behind techwise?

Well the whole world was pretty much engaged in a massive war so their comeback is not surprising in that sense but the whole Vendetta against Rome going so well was pretty hilarious.

So am I reading Korea's thread right that Christianity is still out there? If so, looks like they will beat India to it by a turn or two

Lol, this is wrong. I got games confused. I know that in the first version of Civ4 strength was like a warroir would be as strong as a one strength tank. This made old units too effective. They changed the rules to tone it down.
If I where Rome I would have considered flat-out NAP stabbing Plako after the 10-turns unbreakable peace ran out. I think A4l and Nakor would not care too much and you can only have around two good friends anyway.

If Broker/Plako win they would have to have a showdown with India. This may cause them to backstab. If that happens I think Spulla would have an ueber-meltdown. But it won't.
