Shoot the Moon Wrote:Anyone else think the AP is not the most efficient use of the GE for Spulla at this point? Considering the AP has been available for a while, wouldn't it be a pretty safe assumption (even from their limited perspective compared to ours) that no one else is going for the AP and it would be safe to straight build it? Seeing as they have no assurance of getting another GE, I would think it would be better saved for a corp or say the statue of liberty (which they will be only 1 tech from anyway and would be a great wonder for their empire) than the relatively cheap AP.

AP for the religion building shield bonus, I think. In their globe city management, Sullla mentions putting in religion buildings to gain hammers from the AP bonus.

That's basically all we need for infrastructure, and then we can keep whipping or drafting military basically forever. Speaker should enjoy that!

The beauty of the Globe city is that you can draft or whip it every turn until the end of the game, right? So what is the value of a Jewish temple? They certainly don't need the happy or the culture...
You can get a look at a t-bone by looking up the bulls ass but I'd rather take the butcher's word for it.

For whatever spare thing they are builidng in the Globe city. Plus the AP bonus would apply elsewhere too.

I agree. I'm just saying I would think they could slow build the AP (it should be pretty evident that no one else is going for it, seeing as it is still left this late and the people who have founded religions for the most part are at war). I understand why they want the AP, I just don't see quite see the need to use the GE on it (and the AP, at 400 hammers, is a relatively cheap wonder at this point in the game).

Yeah, I agree. A little odd choice at this point. I think they should save the GE for a future corp, or use it to rush a new wonder coming up(Statue of Liberty comes to mind.)

They also want the AP to prevent a cheese diplo loss. And rushing the AP is a way of converting the engineer to immediate civ-wide benefit. They're cashing in the benefit while it still matters.

They're going to be only 1 tech away from Statue of Liberty, which would be absolutely huge for them.

Another thing they should realize is that no one else can even start it yet (Theology still has a religion attached...)

you have to remember that getting the wonder a few turns ahead of time may pay of in the longer run (snowball effect)..

I could see that if they had a bunch of temples and monasteries already up, but they don't really. The effects of the AP for them don't really kick in until they invest in religious buildings anyway.
