Honestly, the more I've seen athlete's play, the more I think it was mostly Kalin
I really did think after reading his thread once we were eliminated that his play was much better than it was in PBEM1 but (as he has admitted himself), he has a lot to learn tactically in warfare.
On the other hand, it obviously wasn't that tactically hard to defeat us with our monstrous warrior posse

I cannot wait for Spulla's reaction to Athlete's request! I cannot believe he can make the request and expect anything!

The juxtaposition in the same email was beautiful, too. "I expect you're going to be declaring war on me in 11 turns, but could you please lend me your army?" I guess since it worked so well with slaze...

Actually, I believe that I can confirm this. While I was still among the living, athlete admitted to me that Kalin was much more skilled in the warfare department than he was and that Kalin's leaving has hurt him in that regard. He also asked me for tactical advice now and again.

I think I can explain A4L's play by saying that he does not use CFC. It took awhile to find out that catapolts do not overcome the 'Stack of Death' Strat. He is learning the hard way.
In A4L defense he has to knock-out Slaze because Slaze would never sign peace with him. People are less likely to attack/screw-over Slaze in new games because of his iirational haterd.

They sure forgived Dantski pretty easily. Athlete probably wouldn't even have been opposing Spullla if not for Dantski. I mean sure, forgiving Dantski was a good move since now he's just a puppet for Spullla with no mind of his own, but it's still kinda funny.

I wouldn't exactly say they forgave Dantski. They have stated on numerous occasions they have don't trust him .
