Looking at old saves has been pretty standard fair game for the other PBEMs. The argument goes that if you wanted to, you could write down every single thing in the game each time every turn, and it would be correct in competitive terms to do so. So looking at an old save is just a shortcut to save everyone's sanity.
Of course it would be out of bounds to use old saves to discover spoiler info by moving units that you didn't move before, or anything else of that sort.

I manually save my game after ending my turn, that way it'll be forced on pause, so not even a chance to get new information when I look back in.

Just want to say that there's a chance that I may not get to playing the save tonight. I'll wait a bit longer, but I'm pretty exhausted, so I may play in the morning. I apologize in advance for any delay I cause.
Edit: Oop, looks like the save is here on time. Yay!

No worries; tonight wasn't a normal night, and me not playing the save until 11:45 EST is a little late.
However, my move got moved to this weekend, and I don't have the time to arrange a sub. I'll see what my Internet and time availability is and do my best, but don't be surprised if I can't play Saturday or Sunday morning/afternoon.

Hey guys, just having a quick nag about the Green's game. Lately we've been struggling to get through a turn every 48 hours. I realise the problem is with 5 people having to play their turns over a short time period. In which case if we wanted things to move steadily at 1 turn a day again, everyone needs to be a bit more disciplined with their turn taking. Jowy's always been really good (often playing way earlier than he wanted to play) but my understanding is that Kyan and Malakai can only play at night due to classes and work. So if we are to complete a round of turns in 24 hours, they really need to have the save by the time it gets to their short/late time slot so they can play. It seems they are missing this time slot due to the save being held up and we have to wait another day for them to play. I think this can be avoided if we are all more careful, thanks.[/NAG]

I'll be on my annual bicycle tour (visiting castles and drinking beer ) from tomorrow until Sunday. T-hawk is away as well unfortunately, but mostly_harmless has offered his help in playing our turns on Thursday and Friday at least. EDIT: He should get the saves automatically via pbemtracker.
I'll be back on Monday!

Have fun! Are there rules about drinking and riding?

Formally, the law in Germany makes no distinction between driving a car or riding a bike when you're drunk - you'll lose your driver's license in both cases. However, in practice the police usually won't stop cyclists to check for alcohol. We didn't have any problems the last 10 years, especially since the police usually doesn't patrol medieval castle ruins very often.

No? What's wrong with them? Don't they play enough RPGs to know that's where the bad guys always hang out? Man, there could be goblins, or bugbears, or orcs, or even a beholder there for all you know! I hope your party has a mage.
