Here's the barb city. Unlikely to be worth keeping. Barbs need to work on their city placement
Nice spot for a city there, though it is far.

Maybe we do need to take the city. Charriu is here, with elephants in his BFC presumably. The hill 1SE would be better, but we could be racing.
Need to be careful though. We are #3 in Soldiers, but Charriu is #1.

I've changed my mind. I don't think it's defensible. I will aim to get the corn tile with a more Eastern city. I'm settling on the Bananas next turn, will only take a few roads from there. Probably whipping from capital.

A warrior disappered from the barb city.. Very curious indeed! I attacked the last one:
Aha! We met AT just on the other side of the city. Bet he didn't expect this sneak capture
We got a bunch of gold. I kept the city also, because of the now visible resource tiles.
We might lose it as soon as next turn though, if AT seeks vengeance. He's already been in war with Charriu, which I can see from their current peace treaty.
We were EXTREMELY unlucky with combat against the warrior. With 99.1% chance to win, we were 1 hit away from losing.
That leaves our Axe at low HP, but auto-promote will heal it a little bit. Still, we'll be in trouble against AT's Holkan.
I also sent AT an OB offer. If he accepts it, we'll be locked to peace for 10T.
Gautier was founded on top of the Bananas. It will be a slow starting city unlike our previous ones.
To the southwest we found Charriu.. Again! This donut is really throwing me for a loop. It's looking more like a pretzel right now.

AT didn't take the city... yet. I think he might have had a slight disadvantage from our hill defense and anti melee bonus. But there are probably more units on the way, since he stayed and didn't accept OB.
Demos are still okay, but two things worry me: We are behind in land, with not much space to fill, and someone is feeding cash to a Protective civ.
Here's the spots we have left to fill. I'm not too hopeful at keeping Polynesian, but maybe we get lucky. Just this once.
Purple dot could be moved away from the cows to the desert hill with a chariot sitting on it currently. Not ideal, but an option if Charriu beats us to the cows. He might settle on the plains hill.
Are we winning (son)? Even if we get The Colossus, I don't think we'd be in the driver's seat. And this being a snowball game... Yeah. But let's not give up so soon! Anything can happen.

Turns are going fast
We won the battle! I was a little scared after that close fight earlier.
I actually think I want to settle on the elephants, and that city might be the next one I settle. +1 happiness is nice, and an extra +1 when we can connect incense. The placement also allows us to cross from one ocean to another without a fort.
I'm appreciating Charismatic much more now. Happiness is an issue. It must be painful for those without the trait. I'm pretty happy (hah!) about my leader pick.
Charriu is losing units. Might have been against AT, but they are currently at peace. Good news in any case.
Polynesian came out of revolt and bumped out AT. We actually have the odds on him when he's on flat land. But I would prefer to avoid angering him any more than I've already done. I hope he retreats now.
Great news is that due to the jungle, we can't be sniped by chariots. Never thought I'd be happy about a city being surrounded by jungle.
Charriu probably won't try to squeeze in a city to the south. He has great land left to settle towards me from the other land bridge.
E: AT could be petty and sit next to the city on those jungle tiles with his Woodsman III units. I hope that won't be the case. He'd gain an enemy with no benefit to himself.

Got Metal Casting and started on a Forge. Tech wise we're going for Maths -> Calendar next, assuming no military threats to us.
Someone far away got the Oracle as expected. We'll know who when someone's score increases after logging in. Hopefully they aren't picking MC with that
AT didn't declare war! He is however heading east, which is a little awkward. I'll do everything I can to not have to kill it.

Spoiled so I can't dedlurk but I did want to say that I really appreciate your style of posting: reasonably detailed plans/thoughts without going nuts over every little thing. It's probably the thread I've most enjoyed reading through so far!
As far as elephants, how many other long-term sites do you have at the moment? Might be worth splitting up the 2 foods into separate cities if you're running out of space anyway. I mean, you could do that even if you settle on them, you just lose the tile yield.
Edit: As for the question, nevermind, I somehow missed your earlier image. I am still curious whether or not you'd be planning to share those resources between two cities though.

Ty! That was the plan, I'm glad it's a good read.
There is merit to what you're saying about splitting up the food. Both would be fishing villages, but good ones with Fin and hopefully Colossus bonuses.
There's also this to think about. Very nice unsettled land next to Charriu. Is that landmass his core, or supposed to be contested land? I'm thinking core because it's quite different in terrain from the jungles up North.
I can't count on beating him to it, but if he doesn't do his due diligence, we should get in there.
1W of cows, or 1SW of that tile on the plains hill. Fishing villages are nice, but forward production centers are even nicer. This would leave the crabs to a fishing village in the middle.

We did a live trade of resources with Charriu, fish for pigs! Not very important in the grand scheme of things, but a fun occurrence nevertheless.
I whipped a Forge and will start Colossus next turn. Chops will have to wait for Maths (5T), so I suppose we wouldn't have finished it any earlier even with an extra forest.
