Hey Jowy, I think you are playing well in this game! You've improved immeasurably since the Pitboss #2 game all those years ago. I particularly thought that it was a good call to retreat and give up the barbarian city rather than get sucked into a losing fight with Automated Teller. You still have room for 4-5 more cities, Calendar tech is a big one for your civ, and the Financial + Colossus combo looks really strong here. When you have a bunch of low-quality fishing villages, add Colossus + Financial and grow onto a whole bunch of 4 commerce water tiles. Then suddenly those fishing villages don't look so crummy any longer. I think your economic situation gives you at least a fighting chance in this game.
Do you have any long term plans at the moment you're working towards beyond the usual growing and teching?

Thx dear ol' neighbor! As toxic as that game was, and as bad as I was, I'm glad I jumped in back then and got into PB's and PBEM's. Playing in one is a cool unique experience.
For this game I was worried I'd have to learn everything over again after my 4 year break from Civ. So it's a pleasant surprise to be doing well.
No specific long term plans yet. At some point I will need more land, but I'm starting to think a larger tech edge might work better, even if I lose out on using my UU.
Well, I've actually decided to go for HBR and Construction next and build a stack with Ballista Elephants and Catapults. It just might be used as a deterrent and for defense, rather than for an invasion.
Rowe was settled! No hill bonuses for our border city. If there was a food resource to the East I would have liked to settle Rowe on the river, and an extra city around the iron.
I don't remember if I've ever had a 0 food resource city. Technically it should still grow, but very very slowly. I opted not to have one in this game.
I sent Charriu an OB offer. I want to know what's going on in that fog. He might earn some gold from the trade routes, but I think map knowledge is worth it for us. We can cancel once we've scouted.
07/16/2020 07:03:39 96 pindicator score decreased to 458 (-32)
07/16/2020 07:03:39 96 Superdeath score increased to 432 (+21)
Superdeath takes a city from Pindicator! I wish them both equal luck in a long and drawn-out war.

As long as you can get a farm or two up, chaining irrigation or just off a river, your city will grow at a decent pace with a granary as long as you are only working coast/cottages. The city will be doomed to low-production hell, though,

Hmm, if you can work 3 grassland farms at size 3, that's as if you had a +3 food resource like Corn. So, makes sense. The start would be the slow part, and probably shouldn't be whipping back to it.
We met Pindicator and Mjmd inside AT's territory. This is the interesting part, three wars between Charriu and Mjmd, all started by Mjmd. Strangely, Charriu built The Hanging Gardens this turn.
I'm surprised The Great Lighthouse is still up. I set our Colossus wonder city to build it. We'll yoink it if the trade route civs delay too long.
Charriu declined OB annoyingly. Is he attacking when the peace treaty is up next turn? I hope not. He hasn't been whipping as if he's preparing for war, nor has his power increased.
I got Masonry at low research % earlier, now I've started research on Construction (3T) at 100%.
Dyes connected, and Silks following next turn. This growth spurt is going to take a while to end. I also secured an extra health resource in trade from Mjmd.

T100 overview:
We're boxed in, but still have room for 3 filler cities. Maybe 4, we'll talk about that later!
We changed to military builds seeing as Charriu whipped 4 times just now and refused OB. Probably just due to THG, but you can never be too sure.
If we put in 1 turn of production, we'll have a limited window of "banked" 1-pop unit whips ready to go if needed. Note that we are already paying some gold for unit maintenance.
I feel we're at our most vulnerable right now. Once we have cats, we can take down stacks. Rhyme not intended.
Happy with demos apart from land. Well, I think the lack of land makes the other numbers more impressive.
Some build stats for ya. I haven't really gone in-depth on city and worker micro, despite the fact that it takes most of my time.
I should have built a few more workers. I'm just looking at the forests in the next pic and thinking those shouldn't be there, they should have been turned into settlers and workers already.
Can you spot all the moneybags?
Some plans for how to make use of the land left. Orange would be a production city, others fishing villages. Red would like irrigation.
I was first insistent on settling orange on the coast, but I don't need 3 cities to cover the coast tiles on that side. Inland there are unused hills and it can borrow food from the capital.
Yellow could be 1W, but I think having the wheat in range for growth is good, even if it will ultimately be orange's tile to support mines.

A turn later, someone built it. I already forgot who, but you guys probably know already, so I'll just check for myself next turn

I'm thinking of giving them a luxury resource to stop trading with Pindicator. That stops OB, right?
My theory on the map. Mjmd would be in one of the spots next to Charriu, and Pindicator next to Gira and Superdeath.

This brings me sadness
This brings me joy
In other news, Mjmd offered OB and I accepted. We now have 2 gold trade routes, woo! Also it's nice to have someone who doesn't feel hostile to me.

My image service is broken. AT might be trying to pull another fast one on us: He has a small stack of axes heading towards our border. I'm preparing for that, but not going all out.
Those forests near the capital came handy. I put three into a settler. Wouldn't want to sit on current pop when it can be much higher

We can build Ballista Elephants now. I'm trying to get a few barracks, stables and forges up though. It's a balancing act with low prod and wanting to grow.
AT's stack looked like it's fortified on a jungled hill. Hopefully it stays there.
Someone's getting 75 GPT more from trade routes than they are giving. My best guess is that it's Pindicator.I sent "stop trading with Pindicator" blank offers to Mjmd and AT to maybe help them realize not to do it.

We are in war. I guess I should have gone all out. That's my mistake. I didn't think AT was in a position to attack me. He hasn't been growing in power or whipping units. How is he going to win this?
He had the odds so I had to retreat for now.
This city I'm taking back.
I think that stack is all he has since he's lower in power than us, and we can crush him with a counterattack.
Whipping more next turn. Going to put a dent to our growth phase, but my hand has been forced.
Settled Gwenhwyvar. The others will be delayed.
