It's go time.
Here's the main stack. Got some elephants and catapults catching up.
We're not facing Longbows, and Charriu is only now researching Construction for Catapults.
Power levels. AT's not reinforcing as fast as Charriu, he has whipped his cities hard already to come up with his stack.
There was a random Barbarian galley. Glad I built the Trireme! We managed to save our fishing boats.

Settled Conand Tower (upper right). Sent out a chariot to check for immediate reinforcements. None on the way
We bombarded with the catapults. Double promo phants would already get a bit over 50% odds, so I think we got this city.
Charriu has Feudalism queued up. I'm more worried about catapults hitting my stack than longbows hiding in cities though.
Well this is awkward, AT's stack isn't here
Two things to show here: We see which city AT captured, and we have confirmation on Pindicator's location.

I don't know why Superdeath wants me to pay for OB. We non-protective civs should stand together.
Got the city, lost 4 phants. That's a bummer, but we got Machinery tech this turn, and I upgraded four axes to Macemen.
The city itself was whipped to the ground and only has a Lighthouse. It will be nice when it grows. Getting Charriu's corn city seems like a good next step.
I might sack the chariot for map knowledge next turn. I would like to attack a city not on a hill.
Question: For Heroic Epic purposes, do unit levels start at 0 or 1? We have a triple promo phant now.

Looking good, although that's a shame about the ballista boys. Unlucky and sad, or expected and sad?
I believe for Heroic Epic purposes, units start at level 1, because just fights against barbs are enough to get a unit to level 4. So 10 EXP should be the normal threshhold for HE buildability.

10XP (or 8 for Charismatic) is indeed the threshold for HE.

Thx for the answers. Amica I had OK luck, I expected 4 losses (vs the 2 archers and 2 spears).
I sent the chariot out to scout. Didn't see any cities! I made a road with my combat workers and sent a mace that way. There's one! It's barely defended.
When we capture it, we get more roads to work with.
I found AT's stack, then it moved in real time before my eyes. The magic of Pitboss!
BerserkHalfling has defenses, but it's not on a hill. AT might be able to capture it if he bombards and then sacks the catapults. Depends how much Charriu can reinforce it.
20 worker turns were wasted on this "canal"
We settled our last city on the tiny island. Any new additions will have to be from conquering.
Here's an overview shot.

Hooray for the combat workers! Always a good call to bring a few workers along with the army, you were able to speed up the whole force by a turn as a result. For the canal mechanics, forts and cities can only hold ships if they touch water on one end. As a result, the limit for a canal is a width of two land tiles (water - fort - fort - water). What's the upcoming tech path and how far do you think you can push in the current war?

On tech, I'm considering the Music path for HE and the free Great Artist, to launch a second Golden Age when my next natural GP spawns. Engineering is tempting just for the extra road movement to better juggle two fronts. But if all goes well and I don't have to fear being attacked in the near future, then it's not a top priority. Then next is eco techs, probs Paper to Printing Press, then Guilds and Banking. Play to my strengths
As for the war, who knows. Charriu has been whipping hard. We lack map knowledge since he never accepted OB. What we really need to avoid is losing our stack to a catapult sack. As long as we keep our stack alive, Charriu can't retaliate and we can keep what we've grabbed. If we see a city we can't take or a stack that is threatening, then we should sue for peace, and return later because Charriu will be behind from losing cities and wrecking his economy.

Captured JuvenileWizard without losses. CommandoPygmic is next. Not on a hill and lightly defended, looks good so far. I even have a forest to sit on.
Charriu might have a stack in the fog. AT will arrive at Charriu's other city before I arrive at CommandoPygmic. Still, if I was Charriu, I'd try to hit my stack with cats + clean-up units. AT's is easier to hold back.
I pillaged his copper, and I have my axe+spear combo ready to pillage his other copper next turn. Not sure how big of an effect it's gonna have, but might as well be diligent.
Gonna whip a trireme to deal with the two galleys.

Charriu's stack shows up and AT is moving backwards. I hope Charriu was whipping Gallic Warriors over Catapults. Too good to be true?
Anyway I pillaged his copper here. I will complete Walls next turn in my border city.. just in case. And I have a Trireme out to gain map knowledge and pillage the clams.
I think I will bow out from the war after this city. With AT moving backwards, I don't want to end up fighting Charriu alone or either of them attacking my other front.
Charriu's stack showing up on the other front is good news for this city, at least he's not concentrating his full force here as I might have done in his place.
We now know where Cairo is located at. Roughly.
