Guilty as charged. But lurking the games is so much fun and so much less commitment....
If you make the map, I'll go back to playing.
I've literally never made a map. Are you saying I need to ignore Darrell's well-worn advice at the top of the page?
Seriously, if that's what it takes to make this happen, I can do it. I figure I'll just do the usual "make a lurker thread and they'll catch the obvious mistakes."

I mean I've made at least two maps, if that doesn't tell you it requires no real skill I don't know what does.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

This is basically a nostalgia game, right? Therefore, consider including the following:
* Forests in ocean tiles and/or on mountains
* Randomly generated terrain modified to somehow be even less balanced
* A "wonderland" filled with 20 floodplains grassland gems tiles, accessible only via Astronomy because the tech clearly needs a boost
* Chokepoints everywhere for a tactical experience
* Barbarian Submarines

Well there's nothing wrong with forests on mountain tiles. They're good for thematic backdrops.

It's also permanent bonus health. But you're correct, it's not anything to get worked up about. Just an oddity which fell out of favor long ago. Or possibly is still in common use to this very day, I stopped paying attention to most of the games here when they all transitioned to the increasingly incomprehensible Krill Mod.

It was in common use until global warming got modded out.

The main reason for forests on mountains was to prevent global warming. But global warming is disabled in our mods, so the forests are no longer needed
