I suppose there are some floodplains to our east there?

Anyhow, not a very lush start, classic RB stuff. This capital could have an easy 5 fin cottages early on, has a bunch of plains mines to work.

We don't want a fishing-first civ.

Mongols could still fit. Im not sure if we are supposed to settle in that spot or if we arent. I men supossed coz i believe we are not obligated.

So we should get into the what we should pick first for the snake pick. I guess we are going to try Cyrus of mongolia? what should we locked? Cyrus? not sure.

Also It seems to have sea/big lake in the south, but im not sure if i should just trust the squares we see clearly. I think i would go with scout E-NE to that mione (EDIT: Im not sure what happened in my brain, i meant hill) and see more about the floodplains ( I think we should not go for second city there if there is no a source of food, but might be nice for a 3-4 city spot.

I suggest settling in place - the plains hill gives an extra hammer to our center city tile, which is very valuable for building the first worker.

Also the wine provides an extra commerce to the city center tile if you settle in place.

Oh i actually didnt know that. I didnt start simming since i dont know what civ+lid i'll get, so its nice to know.

Reading some spoilers threads of many games generally the mapmaker aims for the player settle in place. So i guess that would be the normal thing too in this game.

In general if the base tile + resource produces more yield of any of the three yields (food, hammer, commerce) you always get the higher yield.

Example settling on grassland food resources gives the city a 3 food tile.
A plains hill or a plain tile with a strategic resource like stone gives 2 hammers. A plains hill strategic resource would give 3 hammers.

Not sure if its posible, but if grassland + stone or grasshill + stone? also hammer? I guess it does not give food, does it?

Grassland + stone is a 2/1/0 tile, the city tile is also a 2/1/0, so it will stay a 2/1/0 tile
Grassland hill + stone is a 1/2/0 tile, the city tile is a 2/1/0. In this case the highest yields will be taken and the city has a 2/2/0 tile.

Ohh i understand, so the city will be as the best food, best hammers and best commerce being the standard city 2/1/1 (not 2/1/0, no?) So if a square has more than 1 com will stay with more money, and same way if has more hammers or more food.

I didnt know that! Thanks so much!

You are correct and yes the city tile actually is 2/1/1. This is actually one of the biggest reasons, if not the main reason, why we almost always start on a plains hill tile. Honestly I understand the reason why, but I always find it sad that we are most of the time just settling in place. I always liked this early choice of where to settle the capital.
