Spain still looks viable. based on above, thanks for the amazing overview Fintourist. China's great to play as well, albeit a bit linear. The opening somewhat confuses me. Are we facing an inner sea? Is this an inlet from the north of the map?
In any case, let's try to whittle down some options SD, preferred civs + traits.

Okay. Civs i wanna try/play optimally since i have 2! dedlurkers for the time being...
China. Pb52 i probably didnt play optimally.
Carthage. Get out 7-10 cities depending on map size and neighbors, then slam numids into their faces. IMP/??? is a given i think... and if the map is too big for numid, we cothon our way to victory!
India? Self explanatory.
I think that is the list of Civ's id be willing to play this time around. Leaders im willing to play anything. Whatever combos the best with the civ we choose.

India seems to have gotten nerfed pretty significantly. Of those three I'd be most interested in China...

idk. worker with mobility is still pretty good. going straight BW-food tech for a fast settler is a potentially good way to do it.
although with the multiple food types needed, im sure China outpaces even India rather easily.

Bob took max-happiness Maya+Fin/Chm. That's basically 6 free happy from rushing construction, which will be an attainable goal using fin.

Not interested in org or ind, agg or cre. Don't really want phi or imp either. Fin/Pro is nice, as is exp/pro for a hanging garden rush, which we can leverage in to a chock rush.

Fin/pro sounds fun since this is supposed to be a larger game, but nothing really for early game other than PRO trade routes.
Fin/pro, Exp/pro, Fin/exp, or Imp/pro all sound fun to me. Waiting to decide till our Micro-master chimes in :D
