[SPOILERS] Cornflakes PB53

Oh i made sure there was only grass tiles. But looking back, i would have put more hills in for sure. Ive taken all the various nitpicks/complaints so far and i think i have a good idea of what to do next time.

Commodore and scooter both canceled OB, which cost around 15 in trade routes to large and island cities. Couple that with a slightly larger than expected bpt drop when I ran some better numbers this turn. I decided to hold off on the civics swap and whipping spree for one more turn.

Sadly Nationalism turned out to be only 2 drafts per turn, not 4 (must have been remembering based off a larger map size). Still I adopted Nationhood and slavery this turn, drafted 2, and 8 more units complete at end of turn. I closed borders but did not declare war. I expect to see almost as many whips from TBS is response. I move in next turn T106 anyway since TBS doesn’t have a stack to counter me. If he abandons the frontline cities then I get a big win early. If he holds the frontline cities then I bombard while continuing to whip out attackers. Liberalism > MT in a comfortable 4T (EOT108).

Rooting for ya!

Oh my cornflakes, are you worried about the cut in drafted numbers, or you expect to be okay since you can draft for more turns before running into happy issues?

End result will be about the same number of draftees due to happiness. I would have preferred to front-load that since units now are better than units later. Just means I’ll be in Nationhood for 10 turns instead of 5.

T106: The DoW vs. Carthage/TBS

TBS whipped 6 times, presumably all Longbows (at least every city that I can see). I moved in the highlighted force against Sabratha with a half dozen HA in range, as well as half a dozen additional cats 1NE. I think I will have enough force to attack next turn with heavy casualties. If TBS reinforces then I advance the rest of my cat stack plus a new mace and drafted musket and take T108.

At the straight city (UI text obscuring the name rolleye) I have a similarly sized stack but no backup catapult stack. Have to run, but maybe you can figure out from the signed how I'm going to get a Cuirassier completed end-of-turn that I select MT from Liberalism (T109). [Hint: the auto-upgrade works if I have the HA already queued and pre-whipped behind a unit that completes on the same turn that Liberalism completes].

In the meantime, more units complete every turn.

Are you saying that the city will produce two units that turn?

By the way, the civics screen tells you how many units per turn you can draft, before you switch.

No, one non-Cuirassier on the turn Liberalism completes EOT (T108), and one Cuirassier the EOT109 after I select MT as the free tech. The the difference compared to a normal auto-upgrade situation is that since I am selecting free MT after build queues process I can't do the usual whip of HA > auto-upgrade at the turn roll. I need to have the HA already in the build queues at the EOT108 turn roll (behind the other unit that completes EOT108) because once I take MT the HA are obsolete.

I see that now, didn't realize that until after drafting two and trying unsuccessfully to draft the 3rd smoke

T107 update:

TBS left two CG3/D1 longbows on defense. I decided to throw two of my catapults in to soften up the 2nd LB, and it worked! Muskets ignore city walls so I got 6% odds on the first, which got in enough hits to give my winning mace 82%. The catapults softened the 2nd longbow up enough to get 30% odds with my 2nd musket, which won!

Oea on the straight was stuffed full, and with 5 catapults in range of my stack I decided ordered retreat. This initial action is instituted primarily to chip away at Carthage research capacity and slow down knights by a turn or two while I am building up the Cuirassiers. If I just capture Sabratha and avoid getting a stack wiped this will be a win for me. My stack is as big as TBS's stack, and I can only be hit by 3 cats this turn (thanks to no engineering)

straight: extending or moving uniformly in one direction only; without a curve or bend.
strait: a narrow passage of water connecting two seas or two other large areas of water.
Neither really fits; maybe you're looking for isthmus (a narrow strip of land with sea on either side, forming a link between two larger areas of land)?
