Assuming diplomacy carries over to future games, the last thing people will remember about the Ottomans from this game is the gold gifting smile.

Know that I think of it the big problem is that A4L could not use the gold effectivly at all. All he is doing is spaming miltary units. He does not need gold for that. So his choices are:

1. Waste a crapload of gold. cry
2. Help a friend. smile

I'm still impressed how Nakor and DMOC have convinced other players to give them money and cities, taking into account that they have not done that much (if anything at all) to help those players out.

you know and enemy of my enemy is my friend wink I guess some people would much rather see HRE win than India win, even if HRE has not helped them much...

I wonder what did you expect? After all these fights against slaze the Ottomans don't have any units left to defend. Once the stupid second Ottomans/Inca war has begun even an AI playing India would steamroll the Ottomans.

I guess MH from PBEM1 kind of spoiled me, in terms of what an underdog can do.

By all respect to his skills (and his defense was really great) moby_harmless (wink) had for the most time only 1 city to defend and not a second power attacking him. Imagine a fictive world where sooooo has enough time and peace to build an Army and attack m_h. I'm sure the later would have crumbled as fast.

There seems to be an awful lot of kingmaking in this game (Civilization). Although that is true of most multiplayer wargames.

Am I missing something, or does the abandon cities plan make no sense? I would think that even just 2 fortified janissaries in the cities would be painful to crack. Of course they wouldn't hold out, but they would kill units and damage others which would have to wait and heal.

What does he gain by falling back? Clearly he can't somehow assemble a stack big enough to kill India. It seems to me that there's a risk that his troops that are being pulled back will be less effective if they soak up collateral damage in a big confrontation. Plus, it doesn't help to damage enemy units in a final confrontation that's the last battle.

And if he were trying to hold one city for a combined battle, Hoth would've been a good choice - isn't that where he has the HE?
