I see two new game options coming your way.

"No barb water units"
"No barb cities"

But don't expect them for this PB

Without barbs you also devalue Hunting, remove the possibility of accumulating Heroic Epic experience, and remove the tradeoff between fogbusting and saving gold on unit supply expense. Barb city RNG is still pretty unsatisfying, and barb Galleys probably should just not exist, but animals and roaming units are fine in my opinion.

Pretty much sums up my thoughts exactly. I'd love to see a future CtH options for 'No Barb Galleys' (seriously, has anyone ever enjoyed that?)

Isn't the settler thing pretty much just an exploit at that point? I'm not saying there aren't skill related elements involved with barbs, I'm just saying if you lose a 90%+ battle early with a barb unit attacking an early city and it train wrecks your 4-5 month long game..........

100% yes to no barb galleys. Have no clue if it is possible.

I'm willing to try no barbs, but I don't have a strong opinion on it. Does anyone know of a previous no-barbs game? I'm almost certain it's been tried before.

I have some thoughts about this and would like to direct the discussion about free wins there: https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/show...#pid758588

Seeing this meeting of PB51 people and impostors hehehe i want to play it even without dedlurker, even though it would be great to have one.

Preferences:

Tight map, like PB54 or PB49

Cilindrical

No tech trading/events/vassals/events

No barbs. Just remember the barbs taking a city in PB52 with a scout and warrior defending it, its not like we were going to last much more but that buried us.

WW yes

Inflation yes

Most games pre-2015 were played with no barbs.
