PRO melee units upgraded to gunpowder units do not get CG1/D1 upon upgrade. Do you consider this a bug?

Uh, bump?

I don't consider it a bug anyway. The same way you miss out on bonuses by building them you can also keep promotions that are not usually available by promoting, it's always been a special case. Hasn't it always been like that in every version of civ 4?

I haven't checked but I'm reasonably sure vanilla also worked like this, no?

Yes, it works like this in BTS. I'm asking whether you consider it to be a bug in BTS.

I wouldn't consider it a bug. Just like old units that have specific promos the new ones can't get keep the old promos.

Interesting idea. It is probably out of scope for CtH though. I'm assuming you would have it work for aggressive as well then?

I too don't consider it a bug. I would have to check it, but I'm pretty sure the trait description says: "[promotion] for new units"

  • Overflow will no longer be converted into gold if it exceeds the limit. This was an unwanted change from BUG that I didn't notice at first.

As mentioned in the New CtH game, this was severely broken in one of the versions of Civ4 where people actually talked about this being a benefit of the PRO trait. I believe the multipliers remained and you could get over 100g from a chop into walls with stone as PRO.

Anyway, IIRC, this was fixed in BTS 3.17 but not fully (some overflow remained) and then they tried to fix it again in BTS 3.19 but only did one side of the calculations ... and overflow completely disappeared. I recall one of the coders for Civ4 actually said this 3.19 fix was a mistake and he particilated with the community in generating the code to fix this.

Coin overflow has always been in the game. I don't believe it should be totally removed. I agree that it should not be excessive.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

I did not know that and I'm convinced to leave it in.

For me it's a balance question. BTS 3.19 overflow to gold conversion is completely borked and it was likely intended to work the way it does now in BUG and CTH. But the status quo does make reaching currency largely trivial.
