[PB 55] Miguelito and Mjmd help Amicalola avoid a repetition of last time

Noble has been playing some turns. It seems pretty clear to me that Team Lewwyn have been camping the turn timer in order to go second in any wars (which is *explicitly* not allowed; only the person attacking on a specific turn has the right to wait, and on that specific turn), so go figure.

I guess they were going to declare war specifically this turn, as I have to imagine otherwise that they were just playing clock games and there were not grounds for a reload. If Superdeath had done this on any of the previous 5 turns, for example. That would have been pretty interesting.

I fully intend to move after them on the turn I declare war, and I am curious to see if they try any of these shenanigans again. I can’t stand the idea of peacetime turnsplits, and the fact that they said they were in one with us, ignoring SD for a minute, is frankly absurd. Not only that, it also goes directly against the etiquette thread. You can probably tell, I think it is bad sportsmanship, and doubly so coming from the team that whinges about clock games so frequently. Not impressed at all.

As far as the in game stuff, thanks. I agree, sounds like we’re basically in Cold War anyway, so no need or way to hide an attack most likely.

I have settled that site, and realise now that you are 100% correct. frown I guess this is still very much a learning game for me. Too many smoke decisions to list. I’m planning to make a city overview tonight, alongside plans for the attack, since those are the two most important things right now. I feel my city management is too single-playery for lack of a better terms, and there’s probably lots of good past feedback and future tips you can give on it. We’ll start whipping as soon as those are done.

Construction should be in about 2-3 turns, and HBR would be 2-3 after that, so those are queued up for now.

At a guess, more than 10 and less than 20 turns from now.

There is little to no buildup on the border right now, other than his large garrisons, which have been there for 20+ turns.

We have not been at war for over 50 turns.

In case I forgot myself earlier, I do want to say a big thanks to Charriu and any other lurkers for sorting out whatever wrinkles there were here. Most likely some that I can’t see. Your efforts are greatly appreciated!!

If it comes down to any shenanigons during your war declaration, feel free to pause the game and request lurker feedback.

Thanks Charriu, if I feel any doubt at all I’ll reach out. smile

I’m greatly enjoying jowys comments in the thread. lol might work out as Mjmd says if Jowy lets us fight him without probing.

Edit(ed out): A bunch of regretful, unfair comments re: Lewwyn/Noble made in anger. I don't think of myself as someone prone to losing my temper, but these games have a way of bringing it out in me. This tirade was a great example of 'sleep before you post.' shakehead

Dont let emotions cloud your judgement. You dont' actually have military ready to go. 10 turns would let you build up.

Unfortunately, it might be too late on this one. I was already pretty bemused and frustrated with their team before I logged in, and so furious at that peace offer that I instantly rejected it both in-game and mentally.

I am asking Superdeath for a loan of 312 gold, with 400 to be paid back interest (40 gpt). That will get us to Construction and HBR, and even if he says no construction is close and I will start whipping/chopping catapults, followed by elephants when HBR comes in. They can't attack us if they're attacking Superdeath, which is why I'm so convinced that this is just an attempt to stick to their bullshit 'turn order' when confronted on it. But the point is, we're safe from attack right now.

Besides, Superdeath might not last another 10 turns unless we intervene.

So, we're at war.

First of all, an overview pic.

First thing I want to say is thankyou to Mjmd for that 'letter above cities' tip, it is genuinely really helpful, especially for someone who builds too many buildings like myself. I'll probably do it in every game I play from now on.  bow

So, the main notes here:

- the big one is the whipped axe at Pisco Sour, which I have marked as a commerce city. This was mostly a low happiness thing, and I feel that we don't need too many more workers right now. I realise this was an obvious mistake now as I write, because I could have 2-whipped a catapult instead in 2 turns. My mistake. frown It also has great commerce potential, but not amazing commerce yet, so I may turn this into an 'M'(ixed) city.

- In the reverse direction, Negroni (M) may turn into a 'C'(ommerce) city. It does have developed cottages, but also a lot of production, so right now I have it earmarked for building barracks/units, but it will definitely get a market during our golden age if not before.

- the jungle cities don't have much commerce right now, but the culture of libraries is also important for keeping our territory against Jowy's culture, and they have enough commerce and commerce-potential that I think the libraries are worth it.

- Daicquiri will have a shrine in 10 turns, and is currently producing 9GPP per turn. It will also swap to 2 merchant specialists upon market completion, leaving the city at 15GPP per turn, and the second GP should finish ~T130, or 8-9 turns after our first one. Although, perhaps I should hold off on the golden age considering we are going to war for at least 20-30 turns? I'm unsure. That would involve instead growing the city up and finishing the market on the same turn we build the shrine, for a boatload of cash.

Overall, we are about to finish several libraries, after which barracks and units will begin to be built. Our two major production centres in the north are building metal units waiting for catapults to come online, and we have about 2 swords, 4 axes, 3 spears, 1 archer up there right now. A smattering of units in the south at the new city of Egg Nog. Not a whole lot at either direction.

Power Graph:

Lewwyn has spiked an awful lot the last 10 turns. We are playing catchup for a while. Hopefully he and SD have a huge climactic battle. While it is uneven between them, it is not quite as bad as it looks, due to their garrison of 6 units in uber-island, and at least 3 in Bobolyne. Still, war elephants are in play, so SD will be up against the wall here.

Diplomatically, I have asked everyone in the game to stop trading with Lewwyn, except Jowy who already isn't. It's a long shot, but I think if even 1 or 2 of them accept it, Lewwyn's income will be hit. I have also, as mentioned, sent SD a request for a loan.

Circumnavigation is so close I can almost taste it. We were either the last or second last (I can't remember if Gavagai has it), which was a major failing on my part. It should be worth between 20-30 commerce per turn. frown

Next report will probably be when we finish construction in 2 turns, and will go into specific military details. I am torn right now between sending an army in the north to pressure Lewwyn and the south to relieve SD, or just one big force in the north to ensure we actually break through.
