Hey AT. Sorry we had to eliminate you, but I think it was forced by the map. I will post more about our thought process soon.

it would have helped had I not made simple mistakes wink How close was it? Was there any drama?

Out of curiosity, you wrote this:

"On t44 we saw him settle on horse and he moved a quechua southeast out of his second city towards us. This is the point when I remembered that he has quechuas. lol I took the combination of this to be an aggressive action and decided to move in to see if his defenses were up to snuff."

If I had not moved that quecha, would you have still probed the defenses like that? The hope was moving the quecha would force you to move your warrior back, which obviously didn't work.

I might not have moved in if you hadn't moved out with the quechua, yeah. Also you would have gotten significantly more fortify bonus which could have made a big difference in holding the city.

As for the rest, that will be detailed in the full report to come.

I don't think your Quechua-move in itself did change our decision to move in with the warrior much. IIRC I made at that point the (wrong) assumption that you would not have AH and therefore settled Horse by accident. That made it a pretty-risk free move. Attacking over the river into a forest seemed unlikely so the threat of losing the warrior was low. I think we even discussed the odds and came to the conclusion that you would have to lose at least one Quechua (if you had one in the 3rd city), with chances of still not being able to take us out (3.5 vs 2.1 vs your visible Quechua and 3 vs 2.1 vs a potential city-defender).

Basically some C&D and a (wrong) expectation about the map made us take a look and from there every decision was based on the one before. We had moved in and reason to expect the city to be empty. We declared war, moved in, found it empty and razed it. That in turn meant we had to consider taking you out because we would never get as good a chance as now with you having neither horses nor copper. Stonehenge was bound to be a culture pressure issue, which just reinforced the point that war was necessary.

edit: I would definitely have urged us to move in. But maybe I would have had a harder time convincing Noble. I think this is one of the reasons we are a good team. I'm more of a risk-taker, which is good sometimes but can get you in very bad situations. Noble balances that out, playing more (and sometimes to) secure. Together the mixture is just right.

Amica did not take peace. We (and Amica) will likely need a time extension - I can't play this turn tonight.
