In fact, can I get a reload? I could 100% see how this would be considered dodgy, so I understand if reload is not allowed here. But I really did think I was pressing 'minimize,' not 'no,' on his peace offer. Is 'minimise' even an option? I'll leave the turn until the cloc kruns out, in case it's decided that that's allowed.
As far as evidence that I misunderstood, I think that's easy. My whole essay for the last 4 posts as been trying to decide whether or not to accept the peace. The question is probably more: 'is misunderstanding how a button works grounds for a reload?'
Edit: If there is no minimise button in the first place, then I would have rejected the offer before being able to look at the map, so in that case a reload is neither warranted nor even requested.

Anyway, looks like we're still at war so Anise is going to be razed. Whoops. Maybe Noble will uncharacteristically show mercy.
There isnt a button to minimize the diplo window that im aware of, as that would allow the possibility for moves to be completed/ect/ect before accepting peace.

Good point, that makes perfect sense. I don't know where I got that idea from. Thanks for the prompt response. No reload then. Oh well.
I guess I will put myself in a position to kill Noble's units + attack Stonehenge, and hope that he accepts the peace I offered him. If not, I imagine this is a duel to the death that I will (obviously) eventually lose, but hopefully deal considerable damage beforehand. If Anise is razed, I see no real reason to accept peace.

The only thing changed from base BTS with the diplo window ( and other windows ) is that if someone pauses the game, there is an "unpause" button available so you arent locked into the window.

To make matters worse this trade window isone of the code parts that I can't change.

Couldn't you just retreat your troops and send him peace? He'll see it and accept it when he opens the turn next.

That's what I've done, mostly yeah. Although I don't see a reason to retreat the troops, since if he doesn't accept I want them in position. Same as how he moved his forwards before sending the offer.
Anyways, thanks for the responses. Didn't mean to cause a fuss, was clearly a misunderstanding on my end. Sorry.

I mean if he sent you peace it's obvious that he would prefer to have peace. It's extremely common practice to declare war with a neighbor and send peace in order to ensure a safe border with a neighbor you don't necessarily trust. This is particularly useful when you think that person might be planning to backstab you and you want to prevent them from doing so for 10 turns. If the neighbor doesn't accept peace then you've tipped their hand and caught them planning to attack you. In this case it seems Noble has sent peace to you twice now, so it stands to reason he'd rather just take peace.
People are people so I mean I guess mercy can be in play, but usually people do what's in their best interests. Mutually Assured Destruction is one of the most common diplomatic stances in these civ games. Mercy within the gamestate is usually either self interest or not really mercy, unless you're not really looking to win the game, and if that's the case you should at least be cognizant that most people want to win.
I can't tell you whether peace with Noble is good or bad for you. It just depends on what you do with 10 turns of peace... You have a lot of possibilities IMO. Open land, even if its shit, and other neighbors. But if you can avoid having a core city razed for peace... I'd say that's probably in your best interest and as you say if he cripples you by razing Anise then you're just setting him up to take even more land.

Yup MAD. If it's good enough for the geopolitical Cold War superpowers its good enough for Civ 4.

First off, combat workers are absolutely amazing, and that forest should have been chopped earlier. I absolutely hate how you can't look around properly to see what you're actually accepting when getting these kinds of offers.
I don't think we have any other option than accepting peace, and should keep most of our metal units in the south. I think what you see is the bulk of his army, and we could probably force him into whipping out a few if we were to march on his capital, but I don't think it's worth it. Hopefully Noble will swing south and we can grab the lands to the north, which should give us a decent position.
(It's extremely frustrating to see your opponent execute your own plans only a few turns earlier)
