It's kind of amusing that Spullla are benefitting from it a lot more than Dantski is. It's not like the SoZ will help him stand off the cannons, but slowing HRE research is very good for India.

I would suggest m_h versus Dreylin in PBEM1 and the inevitable conflict between DMOC and Speaker - we know who will win but it would be a harder fight!

PBEM1, Dreylin vs mh. mh had the SoZ, didn't seem to bother Dreylin too much.

I think it acts best as a detterent to long, strung-out wars. Obviously in a short, decisive war like HRE's it only means they put a bit higher priority on that city, but could you imagine if Slaze had built it? That being said, there are already significant deterrents agaisnt long wars as they will only just drag both civs down, so the SoZ is probably only a secondary consideration in those cases.

Edit: wow, typed this up and 5 people posted before me. Slaze athlete would be an example.

Ok, fair enough. Like Novice says below though, that example seems to support the claim the SoZ isn't too useful.

EDIT: @Shoot, how many turns were Slaze and Athlete at war?

Not sure Dreylin would agree.

It had him spamming happiness buildings/jails and switching to Police State while trying to get a culture victory.

The second round of the war began on t179 or so and it is now t216. So roughly 40 turns.

Also are we considering the effects of Heroic Epics at all? Units produced by the HE city are at half hammer price. (yes, pedants, forges make the HE effect 5/9 of regular price.)
