We lost the city, only killed 4 Keshiks. Hill + 40% defense + CG3 archers are overrated :P

What promotion did the keshiks have? If they have Combat 1 and Cover, then it's only 6 strength archer against 6.6 strength keshik + the 1 first strike and 20% withdrawl

EDIT Forget it. I'm stupid and can't do basic math. Your acher should be at 9.75 strength and vs a cover unit at 9.

He had low odds with the first attacks, but got in enough damage to clean up on the next. There was also 1 withdrawal I didn't mention. Anyway I think it's a good reminder that numbers (as in unit count, not unit strength) are very important.

Mounted units can't take cover promotion though.

Was there an opening to attack my border city? From my point of view it looked like there was for 2-3 turns and was quite relieved that you chose not to attack.

Your military power was criminally low after you got beaten back by Gira. Some more units would have been a good idea specifically not Numids.
