[PB58] Tarkeel and Amicalola's rule through fear

Not enough? Only five, spread out as follows:
#1 Accuser, improving Kuat/Corulag region
#2 Avenger, improving Kashyyyk
#3 Chimaera, improving Endor
#4 Conquest, improving Corulag
#5 Devastator, pre-chopping at Fondor

My primary role as dedlurker is currently cheerleading for whipping granaries+workers at the expense of anything resembling a sensible military. Gotta catch back up in food somehow! whip

Turn 78-79 (900 BC)
This was a round where not much happened directly, but we spent some time making plans for the next few turns. Kuat double-whipped it's galley, which will overflow into a granary. That will then meet up with a settler from Coruscant which we whip T82 to go settle on the island. With the loss of trade routes from Serdoa we're set to complete MetalCasting in two turns of 70% research, due T81 with just about nothing to spare. Fondor will complete the axe it's growing on with max overflow into a forge on T81.

A lot of other cities are also set to receive a whip the next few turns; Mon Calamari will whip a granary with overflow into Moai, Endor and Bespin will both whip their monuments on growth (this is where missing Stonehenge is starting to hurt) and Kashyyyk will whip a lighthouse before the monument.

In other news, Jowy finally got his seventh city T77 and Superdeath got his eight T78. The world looks slightly different then previously imagined, with a rocky spine that each of our territories connect to:

Turn 80 (875 BC)
Kuat's galley is completed and heads east, Endor whips out it's monument as planned, and Coruscant swaps to a settler. MetalCasting is due next turn, and Fondor has 11 overflow from it's axe coming into the forge.

Despite simming out the first 70-odd turns in this game, I'm mostly a gut-feeling player with ideas about the strategic layer, while Amicalola takes pleasure in tweaking out the last pieces of micro. Fondor's lighthouse was a gut-move on my part which felt weird, but that city needs every food it can get and the commerce from working the lake has paid off.

Hey sorry I disappeared for a bit there, I was focused on other things.

Has anyone else gotten MC yet? I fully approve of blasting tech towards MC btw. Colossus is just really good.

Still a lot of room for settling, an island city should probably be the next priority since its a huge commerce boost.

I'll hop on discord tomorrow as well to talk to you guys.

Nice to see you Lewwyn! Figured from your other thread that you had other issues on your mind, but you have been missed. Nobody else has MC yet, and ours is due next turn so I feel pretty good about getting Colossus. Fondor has two pre-chopped forests and some overflow going into the first forge.

We only just got a galley out this turn, and Coruscant will whip a settler for an island city on T82. Should be loaded T83 and settled on T84. That should be our tenth city; so far Serdoa is the only other player with us on nine.

Lewwyn's back! Welcome, you're just in time for us to (hopefully) land the 2nd half of our economic pseudo-trait. cool

Things look very good. Very much in the contender mix. I went into the game and took a look a round, also took a SS to remember.

I set Fondor to forge and Kuat to forge (not sure if that's the build or not, but it makes sense)

I gave MonCalamari Corus's clams since when we 3 pop whip Corus we can work deer, mine and whale for the same yield.

I think island city is that settler for sure, Kuat might want to build a WB instead of the forge first? Possibly slow build WB, then 2 pop whip the forge.

There are only 5 workers. But for the most part we are doing fine. lol The main tiles that needed improvements are there and we're whipping off unimproved tiles which is perfect. Also keeps the score low. Need to get the pigs pastured in Endor though.

Where's the next worker coming from? Possibly Kessel?

Kashyyyk: I think you should whip the monument 1 pop next turn before the lighthouse. The monument takes 10t to pop border and the horse is not just a hugely important resource but also a power tile to work. if you whip the monument you actually grow back to 2 a turn earlier than you grow to 3 due to smaller foodbox. And are we chopping that forest? I think whip the monument, chop into granary, 1 pop whip granary, then 2 pop whip lighthouse. you work the fish, horse and ivory until you hit 4 pop growing with the lighthouse. Maybe you don't even whip lighthouse but 2 pop whip forge at size 4 and just complete the lighthouse slowbuild over all that.

Serdoa built oracle 2 turns ago? He probably took Monarchy since you said last turn no one else had MC. Good no competition for Colossus. He didn't take CoL since confu didn't fall and he doesn't have currency (no gold in diplo). I suppose its possible he could have teched math and taken calendar with oracle. If he did and he now lands MoM that's going to be trouble.

Turn 81-83 (800 BC)
It's great to have Lewwyn back in the discussions again, and it feels great that all the changes he comments on doing are what was planned for that turn. As both he and civac has highlighted, we're very short on workers, but with just-in-time logistics we've more or less improved every important tile as they became available. The downside is that we're lacking in secondary improvements, to such a level that we only just completed our first cottage. Our economy is more or less running on trade routes, lakes and those two golds we secured early. I hit up both Ruff and Jowy for open borders, and both of them actually gave it to us! That should help out nicely, but I'd still like to get some internal ICTRs going too.

On that note Coruscant's settler is meeting up with Kessel's warrior to settle the northern spot on the island, with a workboat coming from Kuat soon. Endor had it's monument whipped such that borders will pop the very turn the worker is back after roading and mining the plainshill. Bespin's monument is both to secure the food, and more importantly keeping that island under our culture.

I assume it was Serdoa who got Oracle, and I hope it was Monarchy and not Calendar he took, but we should be able to tell soon. Currently saving gold before going Writing->Mathematics; we might even take a stab at Hanging Gardens in Fondor.

I'll add demographics if anyone actually requests them.

Turn 84-86 (725 BC)
Jowy researched CoL T84 and founded Confucianism, while a flurry of new cities was founded after we played T83 bringing everyone except Ruff to 9. Serdoa then founded his 10th T84 and AT with his third in as many rounds for 10th on T86. Jowy has a settler on the move as well. We could have joined them in the decade-club, but had other plans.

Our settler with warrior escort had landed on the island ready to settle on T85, but with a plethora of foreign routes coming available we decided to go for the western corn instead. They will make landfall NE of the corn T88, and a pair of workers will come down from Bespin, first roading on T89 then farming the corn by T91. Kessel gave us a new worker T86, for a total of 6:

The Dominator is an extensively upgraded Victory-class that was responsible for wiping out the rebel scum at Taul.

Operation: Colossus is proceeding as planned, with an estimated completion EoT92. We're currently catching up on tech, taking Writing and Mathematics, and see where we go. Very tentative plans for Operation: Our MoM is under way, but they mainly consists of "Kuat has production and forests, and there are workers nearby. We can found a city on the marble for faster hookup."

Our scout has gotten a look at Jowy's lands, and I think I can see why he was behind on cities:

That's an awful lot of roads! Here's our updated core:

Turn 87-89 (650 BC)
After a slight detour, we finally founded our own tenth city, Ralltiir, to claim some land in the border region.
[Image: ralltiir.gif][Image: koensayrmanufacturing.gif]
[Image: ralltiiroperations.gif][Image: inthehandsoftheempire.gif]
Ralltiir was a pestering blight of rebel resistance in the core worlds, and was suitable admonished for this fact by Lord Tion.

We finally researched Writing T87, a very late date, but discovered some very good news:

Only two people know Mathematics yet! We feared we were hopelessly behind due to our MetalCasting detour, but it doesn't look too bad. We even known that Serdoa took Monarchy with Oracle, as he has wine available for trade. More worrysome is the fact that Ruff has yet to hook up his precious metals, but has marble.

Coruscant has sprung back to size 6 after it's last whip, and the governor actually wanted to work an engineer specialist. After some consideration, we accept his advice, as we then hit the next threshold for 25% forge bonus, and some chance of a Great Engineer doesn't hurt.
