[PB58] Tarkeel and Amicalola's rule through fear

Yeha, I probably should have directed the discussion to the mod thread at the end there; that was certainly my intention for posting it both places.

Coruscant built the Angkor Wat, so it's time to swap every engineer specialist over to a priest for some free gold.

Raid on Rome
C2 Amphib Cavalry vs CG1 Longbow, 73.3%: Win!
The city comes with 32g and a granary. We keep it, and have thos most of the northern archipelago under control; MrCairo managed to take the westmost island last turn.

That leaves AT at 8 cities, three of which we are siegeing and are likely to take soon. It's time to rename some cities that have been secured:

The island city of Miko is now known as Tibrin, an oceanic planet that is home to the Ishi Tib species.

Nale is now known as Kirdo III, a desert planet home to the Kitonaks.

Antium is now known as Aquaris, an oceanic planet.

I am extremely busy for the next 2 weeks, so my involvement has/will drop a bit compared to the last months. But the coming post-war reconstruction is my favourite area of civ, and I will try to at least login briefly on some turns. Once I'm back to normal (~late April) I will be able to play a more active role again. smile

Turn 202 (1420 AD)
Superdeath is losing the initiative in his war with Jowy, and has lost two cities in as many turns: The former Ruff-city and the island on the inner sea which SD captured in the early part of the war. MrCairo's main stack has arrived at Redcloak, so it won't be long now. AT's musket at Orchidaceous has had time to settle in, so it will be a tough nut, but it should be worth it:

The Second Battle of Orchidaceous
C1 Pinch Cavalry vs CG1 Musket, 37.2% + 18.8%: loss
C1 Pinch Cavalry vs CG1 Musket (7.3), 74.1% + 7.8%: Win!
C2 Cavalry vs C1 Knight, 95.9% + 1.2%:
The city comes with 105g and no buildings, but it has strategic value.

Elan gets bombarded and should fall next turn. Roy is also bombarded, but has 25 bodies in it, and we only have 21 hitters this turn, so we'll wait at least one turn to charge into that grinder.

Turn 203 (1430 AD)
Superdeath seems to have suspect priorities, as he completes the Shwedagon Paya. On the other hand, he's missing Monotheism, so it does actually unlock some choices for him. MrCairo took two cities from AT as expected, and this turn has a side-stack at the city of Sabine, one of ATs southern holdings. We're going to take Elan this turn, but soften it up with some catapults first.

The Battle of Elan
B2 Catapult vs CG2 Musket, 0.3%: loss (5 rounds)
B2 Catapult vs Grenadier, 0.5%: withdraw! (9 rounds)
B2 Catapult vs CG2 Musket (7.0), 5.5%: withdraw! (7 rounds)
B2 Catapult vs Grenadier (9.8), 8.2%: withdraw! (6 rounds)
Our insane combat luck is holding, we had no business getting even a single withdraw from that.
C2 Shock Cuirassier vs C2 Knight (7.0), 96.5% + 0.5%: Win!
C1 Shock/Pinch Cuirassier vs Knight (7.0): 99.0% + 0.2%: Win!
C2 Cuirassier vs Musket (6.3), 98.8% + 0.2%: Win!
C1 Pinch Cuirassier vs Longbow (4.4), 99.1% + 0.1%: Win!
C1 Musket vs Musket (6.3), 84.6%: Win!
C1 Musket vs Musket (6.3), 84.6%: Win!
C1 Shock Ballistaphant vs Knight (6.4), 99.3%: Win!
C1 Ballistaphant vs CG2 Musket (2.3), 98.9%: Win!
W1 Musket vs Grenadier (3.0), 99.8%: Win!
CG1 Rifle vs Grenadier (3.0), >99.9%: Win!
The city comes with 105g, granary, lighthouse and a forge so we keep it. We even managed to save most of the heavy hitters, which can advance to join the siege of Roy.

The Siege of Roy
B2 Catapult vs CG3 D1 Subutai/Grenadier, <0.1%: loss (3 rounds)
B2 Catapult vs CG3 D1 Subutai/Grenadier, <0.1%: loss (5 rounds)
B2 Catapult vs CG3 D1 Subutai/Grenadier (9.8), <0.1%: loss (4 rounds)
B2 Catapult vs CG1 Grenadier, <0.1%: loss (5 rounds)
B2 Catapult vs CG3 D1 Subutai/Grenadier (8.6), 0.5%: loss (3 rounds)
B2 Catapult vs CG3 D1 Subutai/Grenadier (8.6), 0.5%: loss (3 rounds)
B1 Catapult vs CG3 D1 Subutai/Grenadier (8.6), 0.5%: loss (3 rounds)
C1 Pinch Cavalry vs CG3 D1 Subutai/Grenadier (8.6), 62.2% + 11.3%: Win!
C1 Pinch Cavalry vs CG1 Grenadier (10.9), 69.2% + 9.2%: Win!
C1 Pinch Cavalry vs CG1 Longbow (5.4), 75.7% + 7.3%: Win!
C1 Shock/Pinch Cavalry vs CG1 Grenadier (10.9), 75.5% + 7.4%: Win!
C2 Pinch Cuirassier vs CG1 Grenadier (9.8), 69.4% + 4.6%: Win!
C2 Pinch Cuirassier vs CG1 Grenadier (9.8), 71.7% + 4.2%: Win!
At this point the odds are becoming worse, but I'll give it a small shot:
C1 Shock/Pinch Cuirassier vs CG2 Musket, 54.7% + 6.8%: loss
Luckily that opened up some new decent odds again:
C1 Shock/Pinch Cuirassier vs CG1 Grenadier, 69.2% + 4.6%: loss
C1 Shock/Pinch Cuirassier vs CG1 Musket, 69.4% + 4.6%: Win!
All the odds from here are in the 30s, which I'm not willing to take. We might have to wait for our cannons to show up, but that will be some turns in transit. Worst case we actually have to race MrC to it, but we'll take that when it comes.

Three of AT's remaining cities can be seen here, MrC is likely to capture Sabine and possibly even Xykon this turn. The last is Blackwing, a size two island city defended by four muskets and a longbow. SD has two rifles landed, which hopefully shouldn't be able to take it anytime soon. We'll have two amphibious cavalry there in about three turns.

Our tech-lead seems to be holding up nicely.

Turn 204 (1440 AD)
The war is trundling on; not much interesting happened this turn. We're healing and moving up forces, the final assault on Roy should be T207, and not a turn too soon. War weariness is starting to really pile up now; we lost out on finishing MilitaryScience by 9 beakers. We're going to detour by Education next, while the KtB is still 2/4 instead of 1/3. The biggest conundrum on the horizon is what do about ScientificMethod. On the one hand it reveals oil and unlocks some important techs, on the other hand it obsoletes half of our wonderful monk-buildings. For now we'll contend ourselves with not building any new monasteries. We're going to get AssemblyLine and Railroad first, which should take some time.

Coruscant birthed it's next great person, which unfortunately was a prophet. That's unfortunate because we were planning on running mainly priests for the next one, but we might have to stack merchants instead. We're considering using our stored engineer to HQ Mining Inc in Kessel when the time comes, but a third golden age would also be great.

How much hammers would Mining add?

Interesting question actually, as there aren't that many strategic resources. I counted up what we have (or can reasonably expect to get) of the resources relevant for Mining Inc and Creative Construction.
  • Gold: 2 in total in our land
  • Silver: 3 in total; two from AT and one from Ruff
  • Iron: 2 in total, both in our land and we're unlikely to get AT's iron but might get one from Ruff/Jowy
  • Copper: 3 in total, two in our land and one from AT
  • Stone: 6 in total; four on the spine and two on astro islands
  • Marble: 3 in total, one in our land, one in AT's and one astro.
  • Coal and Aluminum are unknown at this stage.
That leaves Mining Inc at six, possibly seven, plus whatever we get from coal. Creative Construction has more resources at ten (plus aluminum), but only gives half a hammer for each. Mining looks like the better corp, but it's not going to be game breaking.
