TBS moved it all up.

I'm going to have to whip everything and retreat out of the city. I dont' want to play this kind of game where I have to whip constantly. I just did that in 52 and it was exhausting. I ducked out of the turn and didn't finish it as an act of defiance: this is no longer a casual game if I swap everything to catapults and start whipping like mad. TBS will probably take back what I took from him and I should be able to hold back at our original borders. Stupid me, all because I gave him peace too soon.

Well, I guess TBS and I are blood enemies this game. My mistake for thinking it was going to be anything but when I attacked earlier. But I really didn't want to play that kind of game. Ugh, I'm still in denial.

So you can't build War Elephants with ivory? You have to have iron instead? I thought it was iron or ivory.

I'm getting frustrated with all the shit this mod has mixed up.

All right, I have to rant. War Elephants have been nerfed into the ground and there is currently no point to ever go for them in RtR. The fact that you have to tech an additional tech for them (Iron Working), that they are worse vs knights (the +25% vs knights was removed) -- why would you ever go for them? If you hadn't read every line of the patch notes like me, that's why.

And why do they require Iron instead of Ivory - I thought the intention was to make them more accessible by it being iron OR ivory. Was there a mistake with the requirements where it was supposed to be Horseback Riding OR Iron Working and the implementation just got messed up?

In any case, here is yet another instance this game where I am screwing up because I haven't meticulously noted the 1001 changes in RtR. 2.0.7.4 version for life, the rest of this is bullshit.

I seem to remember building a few in our pb49 game, and don't recall them having lost the +50% vs mounted. Maybe that was an accident when the 5.0 was assembled? The bonus is also still started in the change notes noidea

There used to be +50% vs Mounted and an additional +25% vs Knights to make up for the fact that a C2 knight will get odds on a C2 War Elephant when it has base strength of 7.

And yes, I see some of these things are in the patch notes. The Sacrificial Altar mishap was too (although i still contend that the patch notes are just written badly there). Both times I've gone off my memory of what was changed and that seems to have been wrong. My memory was that War Elephants were supposed to be given the ability to be built with either Ivory OR Iron - but perhaps I'm misremembering.

Still, why was this change needed? Why are we making it things complicated? Changing things for the sake of changing? I thought that the rationale behind 5.1 was to make things simpler and closer to earlier versions of the mod / BtS. War Elephants were certainly not broken in 3.X versions of RtR so why are we making them harder to build and less strong vs what they're naturally used to counter?

Ivory or Iron is the CtH rule. Was it like that in RtR too? At 7 combat strength elephants are still very good units. The tech requirement of IW, Construction and HBR is somewhat steep I suppose.

It's patch day for PoE!

Glacial Hammer Raider is what I've decided on. Lots of frenzy charges and Ice Bite to scale cold damage alongside that Added Damage Effectiveness of +215% that Glacial Hammer gets. Still deciding between going Phasing or Onslaught, but I'm leaning Onslaught because Frost Bomb gives me close to the same Cold Exposure but I can also add Bonechill on to Frost Bomb - and I definitely want Bonechill on a secondary source.

If the new skills looks good then I will make a 2nd char for them later on.

Been a year now since I stopped playing. I occasionally have a glimpse at news or patch notes, but already don't understand most of it.
I do want to come back to it eventually, at least when they release the new campaign, but now I have two civ games rolling already which is more than enough to obsess about (mind I still don't have as much routine as you old guard guys)

But I do understand right that you're playing a raider right? With GH do you go crit, or is that neglected as it freezes anyways? I'd appreciate if you linked a char occasionally

I can't remember, do you play Hardcore? That Immune to Elemental Ailments node is so nice for tankiness.
