First real blood between Laz and GKC. It's kind of a bad case because the reload messed up rolls and such. But at the same time GKC knew there was a warrior there, in the end it sucks for him, but he did in the end leave himself open.
If you were Laz, would you have taken the worker? Is it worth the potential forever war? It's a tough call I might do it depending on the player. Not sure GKC is the right guy to piss off.

BTW TBS with the aggressive center plant so early, I think he might be the first to settle out there. It's a really interesting dynamic... everyone else has considered it safe, but TBS is being fairly aggressive with his settling all over. It's a big difference in the overall play of the field.

Jowy's going to get squeezed. Picadilly seems ready to expand into him by force and Cornflakes is playing a great expansion with CRE and is going to take contested islands of Jowy. Not sure if Jowy is going to be much of a factor or if he's going to reach phracts. Settling t0 and not on a PH or a sugar probably hurt him a lot, a lot.
I think a lot of people are being conservative because there is a bit of a (false) sense of security from the map blobs. But I think the islands are a delicate balance and if someone is aggressive they can stake an earlier claim that might be difficult to dislodge. I would be more aggressive with plants towards the middle I think. TBS has already gone the furthest and might be in the best position to take over neighboring islands. He does however have to contend with Comm's praet beeline. Exciting.

Hi Lewwyn,
well done on creating the map! And even better with all the explanations on why you went for which option in the end! At Civforum, we don't usually "dedlurk", but read all the stories in parallel. According to "your" rules, that means that lurkers are not allowed to comment ingame questions / decisions, right? Fine with me.
I follow three of our German Player Combos in this PB. In their threads over at Civforum. Frozen & Dulland are the best "on paper", based on their past track record. They stand at 17 pages so far. Piccadilly & Flunky are at 25 pages. Hagen and Suite at 52 (!!!). But it is mostly micro management stuff at the moment.
Do I get it right that The Black Sword and Mackoti are considered the strongest RB Players participating in this PB?
Then I shall read their threads as well
Greetings from Germany!

Hi, and welcome to the forum !
In a vacuum I would say TBS, mackoti, Commodore and Ichabod have the best track record on RB out of the players in this game.
About dedlurkers, yes the idea is that by reading more than one thread you have more information than the player so you should avoid giving actual ingame advice. Even asking a question about strategy can be out of bounds (for example "on what turn will you be settling that spot ?" can give a player the information that someone else is planning to settle that area, making him decide to settle faster).

Do not worry, we have rather clear rules on spoilers as well
With Commodore and TBS neighbouring each other, that part of the world might become just as interesting as the island which is home to both Frozen & Dulland and Piccadilly & Flunky...

Hey Papa welcome to the forum, glad you're having fun. I've been reading the threads over at civforum as well. They look like pretty strong teams. Excited to see how it plays out.

Just found something interesting from TBS
Quote:it looks like we are potentially on a 6 or 8 person wheel with some islands to compete for in the central sea. So compete I will. Chengdu will whip a boat ASAP to bring the settler from Nanjing to that nice looking pig island.
I guess that pig island ist the centre of this patch and meant to be conquested, right? First time I see someone going for it, nice.
On the other hand: 6-8 person wheel? IIRC, all other player came to the solution that 25 evenly splitted areas are most likely 5x5 islands.

Haha OMG Mjmd just razed Ram's coast. Galley warfare and contested islands! We should start seeing this happen in a few places I think. Pretty much what I was expecting/hoping for in map design.
Laz is super aggressive and just gives no fucks about pissing off all his neighbors! Amazing.

Wow, The Black Sword is good at micro. I mean, he`s already 30 food ahead of the next player at t71. It looks like Commodore has a nasty Axe surprise party but TBS did mention a scouting work boat a few turns ago to keep Commodore honest.
Losing an island city would be a setback but TBS already has a strong snowball going here.
