PB 59 organizing and tech thread

I'm sorry for the way I handled this update and communicated it. I know we had the discussion about minor updates to the UI not requiring an update for the PB. After that discussion I was notified about additional bugs that I deemed worth an update. Those bugs were:

1. As you may know I'm writing all the combat log information to an external log file for your convenience. It was discovered that if two players are online at the same time and one has a fight not involving the other, then the other also got combat information about that fight written into their external combat log.
2. At the same time I noticed that fights involving the barbarians caused an error on the servers side. While this hasn't caused a problem until now, it felt safer to fix it before problems occur.
3. Fixing #2 also fixed the in-game log not showing informations about the fight against barbs.
4. I already new about a wrongfully send circumnavigation message, that is send to everybody when it shouldn't. Now this wasn't necessary right now, but would need a update before anybody circumnavigates and researches Optics.

I admit that no single bug was game breaking in itself as of now, but we would have needed an update at some point anyway due to these bugs.

Yeah, that needs to be explicit that the mods are not the same.

I will be more explicit with minor updates in the future and changing the running games mod name to something different should also help, I guess.

There was a time when you guys just updated the mod in PB54 without telling anyone in advance. I thought that was completely ridiculous because there is no indicator that an update was applied and that people needed to patch their game otherwise it would just crash on login and there would be no indicator as to why. This is not Steam or whatever where games get updated and then you're presented with patch notes that pop up on your screen after running the game and everything just works. People should have ample warning in advance that there will be an update and preferably a specific time for when the update will be applied, so that people know to check for such an update before trying to log in and play the game.

You did provide warning in this case but I want to stress that this needs to be standard practice in every instance and you should not just slap updates on the server just because you think the process is easy. It felt like you were going to just update the mod for the UI change that Ramk wanted before I started discussion on the subject in this tech thread by pointing out that it was likely to present problems for Joshy because he isn't reading the forum at all.
