[PB61 - Spoiler] bell's uncreatively named spoiler thread

Concessions are not handled by PMing the other players, instead you should state clearly in your thread that you are ready to concede to a given player. The lurkers will (hopefully) pay attention and tally up when all relevant players have conceded and then call the game. If it's been a while and the game state has changed they might want to get a confirmation that the concession is still standing.

In short, you alone decide when you're ready to concede, although consulting your dedlurker might be a friendly thing to do.

For one thing, Van was in a Golden Age and had teched Railroad -- putting him in reach of Combustion, which along with Astronomy would allow him to build a navy that mine could not contest. For another, and more important thing, Van finally moved a 50+ stack of Cavalry into my territory, along with a Great General to promote one to Commando. My units were out of position -- my entire army was either on ships or defending Joshy and Bing -- and I did not have the units to respond. (This picture is taken one turn after Van's stack moved into my territory. The Commando Cav razed Wolof, my second-best science city and Holy City. The stack is threatening Foramen, my Heroic Epic city and second-best production city. The best of each were taken from Jack.)

Actually destroyers/tranpsorts don't require Astronomy, nor does SM to enable oil. If he can survive on caravels until Combustion he can continue to enjoy Colossus until he needs Physics smile

I'm told the game managers may be waiting for an official concession post? If so, this is it. Van has won; it's just a matter of it being official.

I admit to not talking about what the actual concession protocol is; my bad.

I also for some reason assuming you needed astronomy for oil navies.

FYI there are no actual game managers, just a bunch of volunteers who might not always be reading everything as soon as it's posted. The closest you get to a manager is Charriu for mod developer and Ramk for server hosting. In the past some games have had a designated arbiter to resolve disputes, but for the most part now it's up to the various lurkers to voice their opinions and find something resembling a consensus. It's pretty much a working anarchy.

And to add to that. Ramk's and my "powers" while very strong are only meant to be "executive powers". The "judicative power" lies in the hand of the lurkers.

First of all GG. Really, i was impressed about your resilience. I would have give up so much sooner. When i started to be in a 3 vs 1 and got razed Honeysuckle i was already about to concede.

And indeed i think that was your biggest mistake. Playing for late game, trying to consolidate your Jack land and building banks in core cities as i saw in some pics. I think you should have just pushed and whiped to grownd forcing me to do the same, in tha tmoment i was barely ahead of any of you 3 but i was really behind of the add of you 3 if that makes sense. So if you all would push into me i would have had a really hard time.

So if you had pushed hard on units instead i woudlnt be able to handle it i believe. Not sure how you see things right now.

Also i ve read that you believed that bing did nothing with his 60 units stack. He avoidede you were dead for the whole time, he was scouting and whenever i moved my troops away he pas pushing to force my units back, so i had a big stack just to defend from bing. Its the same with the atack on Josh i couldnt atack him with that stack because of Bing. I really think he was the one forcing me not to push on anyone else. He did defend you all.

Also i think ive proved the difference between ORG and FIN, that i missed in your civics post of the begging, i think ORG overcome FIN because of the EPs bomb i could make to see all your cities. I even thought you could get communism to get the GS and put the EP into me and make me blind. I really needed to see your cities to avoid the surprises you tried all the time. I i were bling i would be  panicing out. Also looking your cities allowed this last push since i was seeing that you were really lightly defended in those cities...

Also i would love to see your opinions of my playing in general, feel free to read it out if you feel like spending a week on doing so xD, i really tried to post all my thoguths in the thread so it would be usefull for whoever read it. But i would really like to see your opinion if you have the time. It was such a pleasure to play this game with you, and i hope to see you playing soon in another game!

Hey bellarch, I wanted to congratulate you on two things. The first is that you kept fighting for so long, which is really commendable. We don't get comebacks without people trying like that.

The second was just that you played a great game in general, especially for a first-timer. I hope you had fun on balance, and that youll consider playing more here.

I'd also love to know: how did you find the Inca pick? They're on my shortlist of civs to try.
