Amicalola has messaged me wrt to ending the game since they are not available to play on (I guess everybody who has read here and has been observing PBspy will understand).

I am not overly interested in playing on with a replacement even if we could find one, but before calling it I would like to ask for everybody's opinion.

And just so I've asked, superdeath, would you be interested in taking over for Amica mischief?

Hi, so yeah as is clear I have asked for a replacement, or the game's end, for various personal reasons. I won't bother going too into it, but I am pretty incapable of playing these turns right now, and will be for a while.

I am happy to call the game a draw/inconclusive, and it sounds as though Miguelito is too.

I would not personally recommend anyone take over my civ. Without going into spoilers, I believe the game is winnable, but only (and very strictly) with severe micro and macro taking 6-10 hours per turn, minimum. Anything less would not be enough to win, in my fairly firm opinion. There are also personal feelings about not wanting to hand over 'my baby,' so to speak, but I can get over those. Regardless, the option is there.

If this is it, I want to say thanks for the game everyone. I will try to write up a conclusion post in my thread over the next few days, but this has been the best game I've ever played, of anything. It has been a completely wild ride and I'm really sorry to leave when we're so close to the finish. No one is sadder about it than me. frown

There is another suggestion: pause for a period of time. This is pretty much the definition of end game, everyone knows how long the game can last. Even at a turn per week there is an upper limit on how long the game would go on when resumes.

Personally I'd suggest a year break.

(I know this is absurd but there is no reason why this could Not be agreed, and even that does not stop a later plan to just end the game).

If it wasn't clear from my last post. I'm totally fine if we end this game now and I feel a draw between you two is the most fair outcome.

If we end the game now I would end Amicalola's turn now, so that we have a nice full set of 250 turns for my tracking tool. Unless you want to end your turn yourself, Amicalola.

We discussed a break of several weeks, but Amica has been pretty clear that they want to be free, and after the messages we exchanged there is also not really a going back (basically we mutually communicated our plans to win).
I was also not inclined to play on against a replacement, and will not against Amica's explicit wish.
We also both agreed that it is a huge shame to leave it unconcluded, but there is no question that Amica has to do what is healthy for them.

So good game everybody! I hereby claim the religious victory condition, as our shrines holy cities represent >50% of the world population:

It lasted just over a year, and there are so many stories from this game.
It has been a while since we had notice from Lewwyn and NobelHelium, and I don't know if they are lurking still. But I want to thank them once again for their excellent job at making the map. edit: and now that I've read the lurker thread, also everybody who gave suggestions! I was quite critical of the strung out design during the mid game, but it turns out that it was just perfect for providing a modern era climax where war between the major powers was feasible, while at the same not trivial, and there were sufficient safe backlines to commit. I'd also love to know how consciously the canals were designed, for game altering conequences. I suspect Noble had just that outcome in mind (read up re: Spiro/Stony Lake in our thread).

Congratulations to Amicalola for the craziest ride I have seen in a civ game so far. I have said in our thread as much: Their understanding for the pacing in the industrial and modern era was superb (while I frankly did not show any of that). I had them as a clear favourite to win at this point, and they put it at 50/50, so probably they'd have won. Not that I wasn't going to try.

GG, all. Congrats to Miguelito and Amica (and the respective dedlurkers).

I've just realized that I could have kept the leader and reroll the civ. Would have been nice knowing that one year ago.  lol

Congrats Miguelito. You played a frustratingly good game.

Edit: And also to Amicalola, of course.

Congrats Mig, Amrica, Picc, everyone who played, great game on so many levels. I didn't follow every thread or even the game at times but the ending is one of the greatest documented.

Now, can we set up a two team demogame to play it out to a conclusion? :cute:
