Love Gav and SD going towards each other.
I was curious which way Gavagai would go. The banana river valley is pretty appealing land to his east and there is a 2nd gold. Ginger is obviously closer, but I actually disagree with Commodore and I don't think that is a particularly tense border, especially with how Gav settled it.

The others catch up to us, founding their fourth cities over the last couple of turns. Except Ginger - he just founded his 6th. We're all gonna die!
People being surprised Imperialistic is expanding fast is always funny to me.
Now Ginger getting shock axes event...... DEAR GOD MAN JUST FIRE OFF ORACLE. Like for math who cares. Go axe cat and crush. Crossbows are cool and all, but HAs are a fine counter. Like Ginger is going for a unit that thanks to an event he kind of basically has already.....
Poor Nauf and barb troubles. I 'm surprised Amica hasn't been getting more, but not quite as exposed I guess.

That event needs to go tbh. It hasn't come up because I think we hadn't played with events since pb49 (where we got it, which saved us to a good part from MrCairo), but it's hearty too impactful imo. Events should be a little something but no game changers (quests being more significant is acceptable to me, and the problem with most of them is to the contrary that they're just not worth doing)

All Events are games changers. That list was amended years ago for RtR when free shock was comparable to AGG effects for axes with the cheaper barracks, where it was counterable.
Is it any different than popping an early AH from a hut? Just play with the options off.

If nothing matters, why did you rework the event list in the first place?
Just saying that this one should join the others in the basket. Admittedly I know quite little about events, is there any in the remaining list that is even close to the impact level of axe handles?

I didn't say nothing matters. I removed the ones which, in my opinion, were either too good (Bards Tale just gave free 40% borders), or bad (most events but slave revolt and forest fire are stupid) and there was nothing beneficial about them.
I left the events that, in the context of RtR, left choices that mattered. The free promotion events were just about on the limit, but in the context of the trait effects and balance they were OK IMO.
I would suggest that in the context of a different mod, the original list should be reevaluated. Then again, CtH is more unbalanced than RtR so someone could question if the variance from those events could not also be left more...open.

I mean these people signed up for a pitboss adverting events, it was there choice...... so ya seems fine to me. Krills changes seem fine for people who want to play with that sort of thing.
That being said I think there is a nostalgia to events and random maps, huts, ect from people playing single player. Then we actually have a game with events and huts on and it reminds people that it isn't really a multiplayer element..... at least for a while.

Most events do not matter. Huts alwys warp the game but events don't necessarily.

So Gav didn't get the SD city and immediately went into military build up is what it looks like? Doesn't make a ton of sense to me when he has actual tons of space to expand into.

NVM I underestimated Gav. He realized SD actually built defenses and went after the over expanding Ginger. Love it.

So, I might be able to contest this spot and even if not, it will not cost me much.
x2 love. Again, for some reason he built military. Rather than doubling down against SD, he decided to use what he already built to at least force some whips from a neighbor obviously trying to skimp (I do wonder if he wouldn't have sent if Ginger DIDN'T try to war / peace).
Edit: If gav destroys that border city that actually opens up a path for SD to settle it and go against Ginger while Gav goes east. SD can really only go to war vs Ginger or Gav (SD lying he will attack Commodore per usual SD most probably).
