Would building a cheap HS now-ish help with the district discount?

But while one HS with FtW will be great for the Pingala city* and maybe a couple of other key ones, more than that is questionable and will probably need RG to make it worthwhile. For Indonesia and Japan HSs are a core part of their development. For you it would be to push city sizes but it's a big investment that takes time to pay off and your first cities have enough seafood that they don't need it.
* I'm no longer sure the capital is best for Pingala - when we uncover your resources if you have a banana rice city with seafood or something similar we can make the third city your Pinaga one and even bring it inland for more workable tiles. Inland is where FtW is better too as there will be less seafood available.

Want to see Woden's face when/if he sees a Crusade religion from us
He may want Defender of the Faith. It's more consistent in term of likelihood to be used. Or ease of use at least.
Gaul can get Man at arms very very early especially on this map.

We need to get your trader before buying a potential Henge tile, right?
So there should not be an issue with playing the turn as planned?
I'm just considering that I do need another unit to actually farm the barbs more effectively. That should also be considered.

When you get shipbuilding and can travel then definitely, and we should think about whether your next tech is writing so you can put down the campuses asap while costs are reasonable or shipbuilding because you should get a couple of quads out to make use of the shared xp, plus you'll be able to barb hunt and send war carts to help in the war zones.
Also re HSs and district discounts, the reverse which we are planning to do gets the same discounts - build harbours first and later get discounts on a couple of holy sites. The only difference is that you need 3 harbours rather than 2 to start the process.
Btw, slower starting culture is good for district costs and equals a big discount on everything. For me the civics make the districts significantly more expensive than if it were based only on tech.

I meant that he's probably not planning to take religion at all and if he has to defend against crusade in addition to longships it will really throw a spoke in his wheel.
Got you. Not quite up to speed on who is playing who yet.
It would actually be a mistake for any team to go religion less for this reason and the general benefits.
one of the other issues we had on PBEM19 was we took choral music but nationalism was really late on the mixed tree. Anyway that's an aside there are nice benefits to be had from a religion and a 15 point swing between you having DOF and having nothing to defend against crusade with.
I am always a tad surprised no one looks at lautoro in these very closely given the general ubiquitos nature of golden ages but he is a one trick pony i suppose. just teamed with crusade what a trick.

Thanks, another step on the path to victory via the longboats of doom.
If we are waiting for monument to finish then waiting to naturally claim the second turtle, are we going to reconsider swapping to FT in about 8 turns? Or do I wait on tou completing it for the inspiration?

We need to do another settler for Sumeria and a monument for city 2 or would be compromising its growth (And I was looking for a way to save foodhammers, not spend them...). The decision only needs to be made when the settler is out on T32.
I've looked at Lautaro a few times but didn't find he cuts it. I prefer robust strengths to conditional, who knows how far your neighbours are and whether thee'll get a golden age, plus they'd avoid it as all benefits will be lost if it will bring you on them.
Yeah that's it with Lautoro in a nutshell. Great v the AI though.
