This is essentially the reason why it's worth considering if you want me to run agoge now for a couple of cheap units, and then Maritime Industries from around Shipbuilding. Even 2 warriors (and possibly a slinger) from agoge should be considered in terms of potential goody hut yields plus barb camp gold, plus we are going to need actual units later on.

And if there are any barb galleys and I have a land unit nearby I can still get the XP, it's not just boats that benefit.

Every time we take a camp a new one will spawn right? So we want track them down and keep on farming them. So yeah a single additional unit to take the southern camp and then hunt the next one and the next one in the hunt for more gold and governor titles.

I don't think Chev will rush in a true sense. I think he will take a measured build up but he will be building units because they just see your mil score and that you've taken a CS. I don't think Phoenica will be expected to build all the units to attack. I think he is worried you are about to do to him what you are going to do to Portugal.

I'd probably say 2 warriors has significant value given the route via inter. A single slinger is fragile. But just 1 warrior is probably enough but is it an issue to wait and use manoeuvre for a Shur WC?

So either dump that into a monument or wait a turn, lose 2 gold 1 food and 1 hammer from the delayed harbour wheat farm and sheep pasture and drop it into a granary. If it goes into an agoge warrior do we we getv12 or 18 hammers?

Do we want to consider delaying the chop for the building and running to do far pasture chop? Can't place the campus without Writing after all.

I truly do marvel at how all the civ devs forget the lessons from previous versions of civ.

If I'm going to be running manoeuvre I need culture so it's the monument as planned.

Almost makes me question the 2 longboats for BA but those damned barbs happened...

Civ isn't being played properly if you aren't on the edge, so this is good.

On what turn would those units reach AbtS? Something like 7 turns? Yeah, I see your point, Chev will have built and positioned units by then and it would be good to have two units to ambush.

In those 7 turns where would they be in relation to Portugal? Ultimately, we may consider that we are provoking the same response from both teams, with similar number of units hitting us in both arenas so there is an argument for a more equal force in both areas. I don't buy that logic though as it does not consider what we are trying to achieve.

Fuck it, we need to be able to threaten them so they don't focus on AbtS though, don't we, so we need the units in position to threaten, so they have to be sent. Portugal is going to have 1.75 long boats a turn thrown at it, and Indonesia only warrants 0.34/turn? They should go.
