I had planned for worker to be chopping now but I guess that wasn't clear enough. That's fine, overall not much impact. This settler will be 1 turn slower but you will have the chop available for the future and you will actually get some extra overflow off the settler into the workboat which will be able to net the crabs quicker and make up that extra turn again for the 3rd city.
What's not OK is your copper location The southeast copper only has a 4f crabs tile that you can reach by settling for it 1st ring. Your other copper is desert flatland meaning what is normally a high-value 6 yield tiles is a mediocre 0/4 yield. Overall your territory has a lot of "nice" cities with a food resource + cottage-able riverside, but not a single "GREAT!" city. IMP gives you a great production advantage in the early game, and the main constraint on this start is tech. You need Fishing, Hunting, Pottery, AH, IW, Mysticism for popping borders. Getting that gold online ASAP will help fund the other techs, and importantly get you to pottery quickly so that you can get all that yummy riverside cottaged ASAP.
Also although the 2nd city site that I identified earlier is objectively the quickest starting location available, once the 3rd city at gold steals away the corn (which it desperately needs) the 2nd city is relegated to fishing village status. It's OK for 2nd city to be eventually converted to a fishing village / work-cottages-for-capital city ... but just 10 turns after founding? After seeing the bigger picture of all the surrounding territory I think it might just be better to go straight for the gold city now. Then put 3rd or 4th city down 1SW of the crabs where it can pick up copper as well in the 1st ring.
It feels bad not picking up a new food resource at the 2nd city but really your capital will get along just fine with wheat + crab + banana + mines and just endlessly put out 6-turn settlers. 2nd city at Gold can build a workboat first which will provide the rocket booster start to the crabs city/copper.

(Don’t get me wrong, most of the cities that you have available are nice sites, and you have a lot of them, I’m just jealous of MJMD’s gold and copper cities which far outclass what you can get for 2nd and 3rd cities)

Yeah, he does have a pretty good 2nd city.

In this game that's going to help us because he's going to go to the negotiating table with twitchy eyes and slightly too wide a grin and terrify the neighbors into favorable border agreements, one-sided tech deals and staggered NAPs."

Re:Zero takes the corn, and starts working on a warrior. Saving gold for a turn, then finishing fishing + workboat next EOT.
Thoughts on order of settling or where you would settle?

I think I’d build workboat first at 2nd city and use if for 3rd or 4th city at crabs/copper, depending g on how that timing works for settler and workboat.

I like how MJMD is subtly fishing for information on your tech path, and specifically when you expect to get sailing Great Lighthouse plans from MJMD?
I'm not sure that Hunting is best after Fishing, maybe Pottery? All cities including your capital would do well with early granaries since it looks like you will need to swap most of the capital's food away to get your first ring of cities up to speed quicker, and your new cities will only be picking up 1 new food resource. Plus cottages early are nice. You only have 1 deer + 1 ivory accessible without Mysticism for a border pop, and you can delay the deer city for #5 (after desert hill and copper sites, in some order). I'm envisioning something like:
- Capital starts settler immediately after workboat ... You can steal the corn back at the capital for 1 turn without delaying growth at 2nd city, which would sync up the WB completion with growth of the capital to size 4.
- Build workboat first at 2nd city, to send down to copper/clams cities. Timing probably won't work out for 3rd city there, but a quick 4th city supported economically by gold
- Settle 3rd city on the desert hill to steal wheat.
- Capital puts 1 into a worker while settler is in motion, then 2-whips when the 3rd city steals wheat for max overflow into settler. If the worker can chop a forest after Gold mine you might even be able to 1-turn the settler for 4th city at Copper.
- Capital would be down to size 2, but if you go Pottery after Fishing, you could whip down to size 1 for the granary, and then grow quickly from there even with just the clams and banana, growing onto cottages.

Here's how we are doing in comparison.
But the juiciest thing ive seen so far... I havent confirmed it yet, but high likelyhood that the "city 1w" island is meant to be contested.

For only having 1worker i think we are doing pretty well.
See, i hate doing micro for early game. (when you can reliably sim stuff) but LOVE doing macro/big idea shit. But all that being said. I do appreciate what some good micro can do. Wouldnt be "leading" in score or likely soon to be leading in cities, if it werent for slightly worse frosted flakes Cornflakes.
