a Footballing (Soccer to some) Question

I am, for better or worse, a Portsmouth FC Fan, i have lived in the Portsmouth area all my life, they are my local team, nuff said.

The question i have is this: Now that We (portsmouth) have won our case in the High Courts against the HMRC with will allow us to exit Administration Via a CVA and get on with our life as a football club, what are other peoples opinion of portsmouth FC and what has happened?? i have heard alot of Extreame Veiws from both sides on the footballing forums i requent, however i would like to know what people on a non-footballing site think of "my" club after all that has happened.

*shrug* I'm from Stoke and support them, so my opinion doesn't really help, I guess. Especially considering Stoke have no debts.

I'm happy for the fans - because it's not their fault.

However I am angry that teams get away with spending well beyond their means and then get away with only paying off 10-20% of their debts.

Not paying the taxman would land most other company owners in prison or whacked with a huge fine - but they have got away with it. The people I feel most sorry for are the local small businesses which have given services to the club and will never get paid, which could put them under hardship.

I am a Man Utd fan, and I don't like us being in so much debt - I would be happy with a debt free club playing in League Two or lower because they will always be my club.

Unfortunately football has become a business now, not a sport - and I have turned away from wanting to go to Old Trafford and paying ridiculous amounts of money for a ticket, when I could go to the rugby or (most) cricket for a lot cheaper and enjoy myself more.

Portsmouth aren't the first (just look at Leeds for precedent - that was criminal!) and they will by no means be the last!

all Pompey fans I know agree with you there, and we would love chanrai, gaydamack, storrie etc to have to face up to what they have done.

Would you believe that some of the stronger opinion against us from other clubs (apart from Southampton) is from Leeds supporters!!
