[pb74 spoilers] FUNNY IMAGE THREAD

You probably should also make sure it is not razed if Pic decide to attack, since he could see only 2 warriors for his axe right now and could be tempted...
Maybe flashing the charriot by moving SE ?

There isn't a place  to flash the chariot that isn't vulnerable. But anyways seeing nothing ahead of time settled as instructed. Plan is to road.SE of Ak next turn which is faster for ak reinforcements. This also put a turn of chop in which if things get hot might need.

So Pic didn't roll the turn which meant sure enough at war. Easy turn to play though so hopped back in. You just attack at odds with chariot vs axe in forest and hope......

Sorry Greenline. You got my curse of losing 70% fights.

Pic only had one reinforcing axe though and that can't hit until next turn. Decided to garrison the reinforcing chariot as a combat I city raider axe with 58 hp only has a 35% chance of winning.

To note Pic whipped border city for that axe. That means he may have felt my warrior was threatening hopefully meaning he doesn't have a lot of reinforcements coming. Sent him a peace treaty as even with the bad luck I wouldn't want to keep advancing axes into chariots if I was him. But mind he didn't send me one this turn and knew I could attack out so what do I know.

Gav offered clam for clam and separately offered open borders. It looks like he is settling for the dry corn. I didn't respond as Greenline will be back in 2 turns and didn't want to lock him into a 10T peace.

Pic didn't take peace, but still no spear. I'm guessing one is coming. Moved his axes onto hill. I finished chop for a chariot out of Brest. With a whip in Ak could theoretically have 5 chariots there soon. He almost needs 2 spears otherwise could offer a city raze trade.

My thoughts for workers next turn is to put 1 on gold to get that roaded and move other to help chop another chariot out of Ak. Other option is to get a cottage or two up. I know Greenlines note says to start settler at size 4 at Brest, but thinking about next turn so it never has an unhappy citizen. As I had to make a decision on roading gold or not felt ok to mention.

very much thanks to mmjd for covering the turns and sorry for delaying the game.

more details to come when i have time, but current turn situation is that plemo has 10 cities, everyone else has 4, and the india team is committing to an ancient age axe war vs the guy with chariots because i settled one city near his new one that barely overlaps.

so. piccadilly is marching a bunch of axes and spears to a size one border city and he gets to attack first through a forest because lolfastworkers. his units being on a forest hill means it's no good for my chariots to attack first, and he already has an advantage because he won a 30% combat roll due to my awful luck mmjd inherited. not once have i had any combat rolls in any of these games go my way.

but that's all i can hope for, that the axes roll badly on the attack.

the lurkers may enjoy this map design, but as a player, it really isn't fun being crammed together in a shitbox where ancient age warfare based on shady dice rolls determines the flow of the early game. doubly so where some players will just be given crappy copper locations and some will not. glad i am not too invested in the game because otherwise i'd be pissed

The intention was not to cram players in, and I apologise if it feels that is the outcome.

From what i gather of the settings cramming wasn't the intention for this map, just a necessity of trying to deal with a very high player count. But there were a lot of maps used in recent pitbosses that were designed in a cramped way. I have no idea why those became popular, the early game is often pretty miserable for the players.

We weren't trying to cram - we were trying to provide enough space for each player, without making the map so large that empires would be unmanageable in the longer term. It's possible that we didn't get that balance right.
