A technical question. I read that for whipping an early game national wonder you get 22.5 hammers per whip, not 15 like for whipping a world wonder. Can anyone confirm that this is correct? Will it round down before production multipliers are applied?

I would test it, but that is what the wiki says
Quote:Second, although it is allowed, whipping is also made less efficient for producing wonders. When you whip a great wonder or the late-game national wonders (i.e., the National Park), you get just 15 hammers/pop (and just 10 hammers/pop if the production box is empty). When you whip an early-game national wonder (i.e. the Globe Theatre), you get 22.5 hammers/pop. https://civilization.fandom.com/wiki/Whipping_(Civ4) (January 11th, 2024, 13:24)Mjmd Wrote: I would test it, but that is what the wiki says Thanks. Yeah, I read the same article. I am a bit wary because I never heard about it before and because I don't quite understand where the distinction between "early" and "late" game national wonders comes from. Probably, I will have to test it because I need to know this to figure out the best way to build the National Epic in the capital. If it is a normal wonder penalty I will whip something into it but if it's 22 hammers, I'll just whip it straight up.
If you look under assets/xml/buildings at buildinginfos.xml (with your favorite text editor), look for the building you want to rush, then look for the <iHurryCostModifier> value, that will tell you the penalty: either 0, 50%, or 100%. So the late game and early game wonders are hard coded in the XML.

So, Scooter and GT are evenly matched and I don't expect any strategic-level changes there. GT might take back his city and that's about it. Greenline, on the other hand, is going to be run over. Not ideal - I hoped he would be able to put up some fight but his army is completely inadequate. So, what is my place in this picture? GT and Scooter seem to be busy with each other. Frankly, I think I am incredibly lucky they do the stupid thing instead of a smart thing which is banding together against me. Piccadilly is problematic however. I cannot ignore the scenario where he turns his army against me right after he mops up Greenline. If that happens, I will be ready.
indeed, thank you.
Do you have info about where greenlines lands actually are? I only see three cities on your screenshot. If everything else is islands, then Picc will probably only get a third. Ok, maybe its the valuable third... but has to keep large forces in this region (January 21st, 2024, 05:34)klops Wrote: indeed, thank you. Heh, you are perceptive. Yeah, this is one big problem with Pic's plan and also the reason why I was never enthusiastic about attacking Greenline myself. Pic is going to take only four cities and the adjunct sea will likely be under Greenline's control for a long while. I'll take a better picture next time I am in the game but Greenline has four mainland cities and everything else is on islands somewhere to the north. |
