I didn't take prep for the war fully seriously, if I was watching graphs I could have started whipping sooner and harder. But it's really hard to outproduce a guy with 3x your cities, especially when half of yours are on islands. Now I just need to think of a funny joke involving elephants.
Also, my metal location SUCKsssss. Guess IW should have researched earlier!
There is a reason those islands were moved close to you. You were a bit cramped.
Your copper city should have gone 1NE. I mentioned it in lurker thread, but especially with the holy city culture there was no reason to go for 1st ring gold as you still would have been able to work.
Going for first ring gold was definitely a greedy gamble. I thought early horses would be enough to cover early defense, but here I have learned chariots are not so great when you are not playing persia or egypt...
What do you do when you're exiled from the mainland to a few islands? Build Moai Statues, of course.
This city will be able to be decently productive and produce my only real economy - the other island cities can build triremes on lumbermills to keep me alive as long as possible. I have a great scientist I haven't used and no idea what to do with him
I was considering begging iron off someone once machinery came up. Regular crossbows aren't chucklenaughts, but they seem the best option for naval raiding I can manage.
I'll check what the scientist bulbs when the turn rolls (probably another day given the glacial turn pace).
