I'm embarrassed to say that I really don't know my neighbors too well. I wonder how I could subtly drop hints. "Does your son play...video games?" Eh, too broad.

Well, what's happened on turn 75. Let's see:

We finish Metal Casting with no money in the bank and exactly 0 beakers of overflow. "Naufragar, why were you working random grasslands 30 turns ago?" Because I am a micro genius.  dancing

Our current breakeven tech rate is about 45%. I'm behind on the lessons. Will try to catch up on...Thursday? But dipping below 40% breakeven research starts to get scary.

So of course, we're settling a new city:

We're solidly middle of the pack by most metrics. 3rd in GNP and Crop. 5th in Production and Soldiers. Speaking of soldiers, GT has had a very high power rating as long as we've known him. I haven't seen him massing troops, and I can whip a decent enough defense force. Here's to a long lasting peace. On t75, we're basically in wait and see mode. Hopefully we s

Personally, I think more a high breakeven means you haven't expanded as much as you should, and am more worried about net beakers produced at breakeven instead. That's a lot harder to quantify against the field though.

We have 8 cities and nothing else. Mjmd has 7 cities, Stonehenge, Oracle, and Pyramids. Really? Reeaally?? I mean, I know I'm bad, but it's hard to believe I was outproduced that badly.

Assuming Mjmd was the one with Masonry on t67, he's got to average about 14 hammers per turn as Ind to slow build the 'Mids. You can get there with 4 mines and a food tile. Reasonable, I guess.

Well, besides Metal Casting, which puts us a long way from Currency, our investment in this was low. The most painful thing is losing out on the Rep happy. We still only have 1 luxury in our entire  empire. I mean, most painful beside there being an Mjmd out in the world with a budding monk economy and the Pyramids on a food-poor, happy-poor map.

Oh well. Well played, Mjmd, beating us by a turn. Golfclap Doubly impressive since, if our capital is any indication, he needed to get all three food techs with his crappy Mining/Myst starting combo.

I'm traveling this weekend. Lessons to resume when I get a free moment. The next is a gripping one on....roads.
