[SPOILERS] yuris125, pitboss 76

Thoth actually kept the city. He did have two galleys, and lost two swords taking it. Don't know how he intends to hold it, although I can't make an attempt to retake it immediately - locked out of slavery for 3 more turns, and need swords anyway. I should have iron connected and Machinery research finished by then - then will see what I can do. Actually I guess Machinery means I will be able to build maces, not swords - even better

Right now I need to focus on building units in other cities, especially in the capital, to ensure his surviving sword can't do more damage. I have a trireme blocking the way, but he has a trireme of his own and a now empty galley, so if he wants to kill it, he definitely can. Capital shouldn't fall (at least not to the force I've seen so far), but he definitely can try to attack Golem

Thoth did indeed kill my trireme (losing his, and only had 66% in the galley follow-up attack), and now has 2 galleys threatening Well-Rounded and Golem

Now I'm fairly certain he only has 1 sword left on these two galleys, and it is slightly wounded (85/100, unless it got a promotion). I did manage to get an extra archer in the capital, it shouldn't fall. But he probably has a decent odds to take Golem. He also can do other unpleasant things - capture Golem's worker (maybe I was better off just deleting it), pillage the seafood, that sort of thing. There's also a possibility that he used a ferry chain to bring in more units, although I doubt it

I admit switching out of slavery was a bit of a risk, but didn't expect Thoth to declare on me when he's still at war with Scooter

One way or the other, I should get Machinery next turn and start whipping crossbows and maces thereafter

Golem did fall - looks like Thoth did get a promo on the sword and picked amphibious, so had 95% chance of taking the city. It still came close - but it was me being lucky

Hopefully no more losses, revolt finally available next turn, and I started axes as prebuilds for maces. Now I need to figure out how to get back into the seas, with Well-Rounded the only remaining port

I decided not to delete the worker at Golem. Thoth can capture it, but it forces him to spend galley moves around the island instead of sending them back for reinforcements, and his sword doesn't get to heal. And if he doesn't capture it this turn, I get a chop into the capital out of it

By the way, while all this is happening, Pindicator, who stayed out of wars and whose only attack was on the barb city, has a 100+ points score lead on everyone and just adopted bureaucracy (think he researched Civil Service and Machinery, same as me, but in the other order). I'd say he has a healthy lead at the moment

Does look like maces stopped Thoth's attacks in its tracks. He now captured my worker near Golem, but he did complete a chop

Spent some time deciding if I wanted to overflow into another mace or a trireme in Well-Rounded, and decided on mace. Whill whip another mace later, and that one will overflow into trireme. Will whip a crossbow in Saver as defender for Engineer

For the next tech, was hesitating between Feudalism and Optics, and think I want to go Optics first, for better vision over water and for ships which can match Thoth's

Scooter peaced out with both Commodore and Thoth. Shame, I hoped we could keep pressure on Thoth from both directions. But guess he has no way of knowing I'm no longer rolling over

Pindicator is up to 7 cities. As I said, he has a healthy lead atm

Well, I spoke too soon about Pindicator's lead and how he stayed out of wars. He is being keshiked, and Commodore took over his 7th city

For my own plans, since Thoth opened with Feudalism and spent so long on 3 cities, I expect to have at least half a dozen turns window of military advantage now, and would like to recapture at least one of my cities, hopefully both

Don't think I'm retaking Streamer any time soon, it now has multiple longbows and is on a hill (I did want my cities to be on hills, paying the price now). I did build a road towards it for when I'm ready, and starting catapult production - but not very fast, as whip anger is starting to bite a bit. Thoth also took Hemlock Stronghold, so reinforcements are less of a problem for him

Should be able to retake Golem if I can get into the seas safely - which should be possible at least with Optics, but hopefully sooner. My wandering galley is almost back home (had to go through Pindicator's territory, we do have open borders now), I'll get another one built shortly, and it's only a short sail across the strait

I realised tht we just played T50 and I haven't posted an overview. Just imagine 4 small cities with 20+ turns of whip anger. I'm definitely in last place, and certainly learned my lesson not to switch out of slavery when next to an aggressive neighbour in an MP game, however tempting it is, and however confident I am that surely they won't attack in the next 5 turns (unless I know with certainty where all their units are)

If there's anything in particular you want me to post, please ask

The general overview shots you have been providing are more than enough in general, so thank you for them.
